Why do I get the feeling that I'll start getting calls about this as well Alan? ;)

    Superb lid!!

  2. Not my collection of hats. Not making any claims. No dog of mine in the hunt. Right or wrong it won't happen again!

  3. Well, after wearing this hat around and playing with it during a long day of meetings.....it is indeed easy to mould and VERY claylike. I rebashed it 3-4 times , crown crease and pinches. Ended up with a tighter center crease and very tight pinches......this would be a good hat to bring to a doctors office!!!
    Cheers,
    M

The Knox hat reads inside the crown Premier, is that the quality of the hat or just the name of the hat?

    Thanks.

Premier would be a quality designation

I would like to introduce my vtg. Knox Twenty. This very malleable felt is in a green felt.

I love the greens of this 40' fedora. They have depth and other color hints that allow the hats to be worn across the color spectrum and different color warmths in my attire.

The special edge treatment and detailed bow/ribbon make this Knox Twenty a hat to be prized on my hat rack.

Great find Eric, love the pristine survivors, they make the hunting worthwhile. Congrats. I've found green to be an extremely versatile match with most of my clothing

  15. Here is my Knox "Americana"......late 60's maybe......origional $21 price tag inside......first picture is pretty true to the color....it is actually a really nice felt. It did need a good reblocking and I re-flanged the brim bact to where it should be.
    Cheers,
    M

    Great pictures.
I want to purchase a vintage Knox Premier Madison Ave. like the one above.
What material is the hat made of?
The seller wasn't sure , is rabbit and what does Premier mean? is it the quality or the name of the hat?
    Thanks for your help. P2220022.JPG P2220012.JPG P2220018.JPG

Premier is a quality designation. Fur felt content is a mystery that will remain a mystery.

Would I be correct in saying it's at least rabbit?
I saw one being sold as 100% wool as stated by the seller with a question mark.
He wasn't sure of what it was made from.

    Thanks

Oh, yeah, it's fur felt, for certain, not wool. It's at likely rabbit/hare. Any beaver content (if any), however, is uncertain.
