"The Rat Pack is Back" Las Vegas History Lives!

If you are a Sinatra lover and wished you had gotten to see "the Summit" in Vegas while the guys were filming the original "Oceans Eleven" well this is as close as you can get. Now I saw this at the Sahara a number of years ago with a different crew and it was just excellent. Mom's first Las Vegas show too! She loved it! So, I figure this would be worth shot and as Vehas shows go, it won't break the bank like them Cirque de Solei shows. ("O" got its name from what everybody says when they find out what tickets go for!)

Frank, Dino, Sammy and Joey as the MC!

Here is a link, I hope you can check it out and hope it's as good as when I went!:eusa_clap

I've never been to Vegas, not even in my nightmares.

I've never wanted to go to Vegas ... sober.

I'll go to Vegas one day ... in a Caddy stuffed with gonzo pills and potions ;)

Taking a girlfriend to Vegas is like taking sand to the beach!lol Too bad you're married Marc, otherwise we'd go hell raising in that town.:D

I just came back from my quarterly (or is it bi-monthly?) visit to Las Vegas this weekend. Play Texas Hold 'em. If you don't think you have a winning hand then just fold.:D You meet the craziest characters at a poker table. I thought craps players were nuts, but poker players take the cake.

Visit the Auto Collections at Imperial Palace.:eusa_clap See the Improv Comedy Show at Harrah's. Harrah's also has a great buffett. Rio Seafood Buffet wasn't that good. The Rat Pack show is at Greek Isles around the corner from Riviera. Stardust is closed. Imperial Palace and O' Shea's has low limit craps and poker. Stratosphere has the best odds on craps on the strip. The Palms and Hard Rock are party places that happen to have gambling. PussyCat Dolls in Caesar's has tons of hot babes but it takes forever to get in. Wynn is new and awesome. The bars and clubs; prepare to spend some major cashola.

I can go on and on and on. But you got the idea.:D

I was born and raised in Vegas. Love it! Left it for three years and could NOT wait to come back.

IF you want an old-Vegas feel, try the Tropicana. I work there and can tell you it isn't anything fancy, but it fits with their slogan. "The way Las Vegas was meant to be". Folies Bergere is a great show and it even has an act based on 30's - 40's women! Unless you want a topless show though, make sure you get the early showing! lol

Also, if you don't mind downtown, the Golden Gate is a great vintage spot. It is a casino with a very nifty vintage-style diner.

There are plenty of great things to check out, and I am sure you will have a great time!:)

Lincsong,

Any reccomended places to find good tables (and by good I mean with people who are terrible at poker so I can win :D)

Of course, the definition of good expands--reasonable buy-ins, nice atmosphere, minimal chance of getting my very own plot of land in the desert that's 3 feet by 6 feet and about 2 feet deep, you know the drill :)

Cheers
Craig

Farnham54- take note that Christmas in Vegas is utterly packed with people! Don't bother renting a car or using yours if you drive there. Use taxis. Otherwise have fun!:)

Farnham/Craig, you really need to transcribe your memoirs in detail, once you slow down you could make some serious dough off the royalties.

And you really, really do HAVE to read the Hunter S. Thompson book before you go. It's my all time favourite. I have two friends, both women, who did Vegas 'Hunter style' (did they ever!) with the book as their guide. They did this independently of each other, as they'd never met. I could never do that since liquor is the strongest drug I'll take.

Whatever you do, have fun!

:) Thanks for that, Jeff--I plan on doing just that (in fact, already started). Trouble is, when your only 21, there's still a lot of living left to do. Strikes me memoires in "volumes" is just pretentious :D:D

It's a comin' though.

Cheers
Craig

You don't have to give them to your editor til you're on your deathbed (Perhaps they can be easily transferred to hologram form by then), but have them ready. ;)

Our family stayed at the Mirage in early October. Some of the shows we saw were in the same hotel, so we got great (front row) seats. Front row to Jay Leno and the Beatles show rocks, no doubt about it. If you can, get a show in the hotel you're in, and you'll appreciate the extras.
Also, breakfast in the hotel you're in -- you move forward to the front of the line. It doesn't sound like much, but when you have a queue of hungry casinogoers, it makes a difference.
Confirm your supper reservations -- one of our supper reservations got "bought out" by some fat cat. We complained and complained until we got to the owner of the restaurant who gave us a free meal at an equally snazzy restaurant of his. :) He couldn't tie a tie worth **** though.
Anyway, Vegas was great. I really wouldn't take kids younger than 13, though. Nowhere for them to go, really.
Don't go if you're planning to lose weight, either lol.

I always drop 5-7 pounds when I go to Vegas. All that booze dehydrates me.lol I went the first time in 1986. Then I passed through in 1992. I didn't go back until 2001 and have been hooked ever since.:D Never say never, Marco you're still way way young.:D

If you're staying there on the strip, go to the Imperial Palace. It's directly across the street from Caesar's Palace between Flamingo and Harrah's. It's only a $20 buy in. Nice everyday type of people atmosphere.

I thought you drop 5-7 pounds so you can go to the all you can eat places out there. :p "He went back FIVE times?!" "Yep---tapeworm." :p
Hooked?! Vegas should use you as advertising: "Once a month or more is all we ask." :p

And way way not single ... and way way too sober these days. :eusa_doh:

Yeah, that marriage thing can be bit of a problem when in Vegas.:D Sober? Heck I see you're leading a protest of Absinthe drinkers in your avatar.lol

Powers; you're blowing things totally out of proportion. All I need in a buffet in 90 minutes and I'm good to go.;)

I thought craps players were full of themselves, until I spent 4 hours on the poker table last week. Now those are guys who are full of crap(s).:D

Oh, yeah, Shea's has low limit tables and drink specials if your not at a table or playing a machine.

Incredibly, I'm a light drinker of the stuff. About one glass every three months.

One glass stays with your system for THREE MONTHS! Man I have to try some of that!:D

Oh yeah, it drops into the low 30's in December at night so bring your winter coat. Days should be about 50. It could even snow!
