Call me crazy, but I've never seen a vintage wig from the 30's or 40's. Has anyone else every seen them? Did they make them? If so, where do we find them today?

I have seen one vintage wig, a gentlemans toupee from, I think, the 40's. A grim looking thing it was, all oily and tousled from age and wear. I suspect most were thrown away due to concerns about hygiene. *shudder*

Wig manufacture has come such a long way over the last few decades that I don't see any anybody now would want one from back then, unless they wanted the whole world to know they were wearing a wig. There's a very good chance that they were also hot, itchy, and uncomfortable. It's unlikely that anything from back then would be seen as fit to wear now, for reasons of comfort and style and believeability, and it's unlikely that the fibres would have survived well over time.
