I have an unsized, unblocked vintage fur felt hat and I've got a couple of questions about turning it into something wearable. Here's a photo:

Laid flat, t's 16" wide and 9" tall. Very soft, silky felt.

I'd like to turn it into a traditional fedora, or maybe something like the hat my great-grandfather is wearing in this photo:

I've always wanted a hat like that.

Possible? Any guesses as to what it would cost?

I enlarged and tweaked the hat a bit so you can see the details a better. It appears to have a rolled brim similar to the ones on top hats from the period (around 1870), low, flat crown tapering slightly to the rear, with a wide ribbon band that emphasizes the low crown. All in all, a very rakish hat worn by a very rakish guy. Harrison (my GGF) had pale gray wolf-eyes, which certainly added a spooky touch to his rakishness. Wish I'd gotten that gene as well as the hat...
