Yup...there was definitely more to Western hats than just the modern wide and deeply curled brim with the shorter tapered Cattleman crown we see today.

Excellent movie! The Keach brothers were Frank and Jesse James, the Carradine brothers were the Youngers, The Guest brothers were the Fords, (it was Bob Ford who shot Jesse James in the back of the head in his own home while he was supposedly straightening a picture hanging on the wall). I forgot who Randy and Dennis Quaid portrayed in that movie. There was also another movie about the James / Younger gang a little before that one. Robert Duvall played Jesse James and Cliff Robertson played Cole Younger, "The Great Northfield Raid" (?) A lot of nice Western hats in both of those movies...and then there was Henry Fonda and Tyrone Power who portrayed Frank and Jesse James in the '39 and '40 movies, "Jesse James" and "The Return of Frank James". Henry Fonda wore a nice Western hat in that one.

Yup. Clell was a real philospher. Randy Quaid had some great lines.
