Not songs as such, but I like the good ol' days of dystopic, uncomfortable, claustrophobic, creepy, pagan 1970s UK kids' TV shows...
The title music, with its weird inhuman electronica and screaming, always had me running to hide behind chairs.
Come Back Lucy literally filled me with terror!

WKRP in Cinncinnati ending with the clip creator's version of the lyrics.

Another version of the lyrics:

Said to the bartender "Best night I ever had"
Singin' to the bar
Had a microphone (in)to her heart

I said -
Goodbye madam
I'd had a bird in hand

I said -
I'm doing good
And put love in her heart

And another:
Got booked Saturday in a little out-of-place way
Goin' to the party, (not) many men steal her heart
California mighta been a little bit still-a (hot)
Did I find someone else in her heart ?

Honestly, I never discered any word out of the ending. And according to some I was right that it was all just gibberish. But it sounds great.

Always enjoyed the intro music from "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie", to me they sounded like something played in a very exclusive club.

Now that I've seen the Muppet Show and the Fall Guy somewhere on pages 6-8, I'll add "Hardcastle and McCormick" and "Riptide. Oh, and "M*A*S*H". And I'll also include this one: the German theme from "Captain Future": This song has been popular over here since it came out in the 80ies:

I loved "In Search Of" and still hum the theme while shopping sometimes. A comedian way back said he liked ISO too but felt that the last season slipped in quality like they were running out of subjects. The last one he remembers was In Search Of: Mel Torme!

Recently I was watching the ISO episode about Nazi war criminal Joseph Mengele. Ironically Mengele died a week after that episode first aired on February 1, 1979. He drowned while swimming in the ocean near his home in Brazil on February 7, 1979.

My favorite TV theme is Theme from Harry's Game by Clannad.
One of the best examples of great TV drama as well.

Marie Brennan re-recorded the vocal for Chicane's Saltwater more recently.

Bud Flanagan -- Who Do You Think You Are Kidding, Mr Hitler? (1968)
Dad's Army theme

Who do you think
You are kidding, Mr. Hitler?
If you think we're on the run
We are the boys
Who will stop your little game
We are the boys
Who will make you think again
Cause who do you think
You are kidding, Mr. Hitler?
If you think old England's done

Mr. Brown goes off to town
On the eight twenty-one
But he comes home each evening
And he's ready with his gun
So watch out, Mr. Hitler
You have met your match in us
If you think you can crush us
We're afraid you missed the bus

Looking at more current shows, I enjoyed Steve Earle's Way Down in the Hole, used for the opening credits for Season 5 of The Wire.
