Alaskan 2012 Smoked Porter Couple of nights ago I shared a 22 of Alaskan Smoked Porter, 2012. Not as smokey as described - possibly a year in the bottle mellowed it. Just a hint of sweetness to go along with the hint of smoke. The guy I shared it with said it reminded him a bit of ham (due to the faint smoke and faint sweetness). It struck me as an excellent example of a Winterbeer, and I will be heading back to Whole Foods to see if they still have some.
last Night whitest reading my current selection I sipped on Napoleon brand Armagnac. Cold months its single malt Scotch or the Armagnac . "john"
I usualy avoid smoked beer. I'd give this a try based on your opinion. I had a nice one once from Alesmith called Decadence- maple smoked porter. I like that one!
Let me know what you think! (and I agree, many smoked beers can just be too much of the smoke part and not enough of the beer part. I didn't get that effect with the Alaskan)
Hi Drinking a Schlafly Porter, it's a plain old standard Porter. Well balanced filling etc. I also tried their Coffee Stout, and it smells like a Starbucks. I couldn't drink it because I can't stand cold coffee. Oh well. Later
