Apparently I have a "Midland" accent. Few thousand miles off, but it told me I have a good voice for tv and radio so I don't mind. ;) Fun test.

This is what it said about me. (oh and it was right on the money)

You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine.

I have the Midland too. I was born in Florida, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and now live in Southern California. KeyGrip, I wonder what kept us from being "The West?"

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island.

Am I?
As an Englishman (whose father has a large dose of a Scots accent, mother has a mix of Oxford and Sheffield) who has lived in Australia for many years I am quite sure that someone from Connecticut would be unlikely to think I was from their home town.

Although, stranger things have happened.
I was mistaken for a South African when I was in Aberdeen recently.

Good job test!

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

Hmm,.."Inland North"

Midland followed by a touch of Northeast, then some Philadelphia, and South (?) [huh]This quote from the page sums it up nicely I think and even predicts my surprise at the results.

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."
Uncanny! I do call it pop. lol
