I had an old ceramic conical bottle of Old Spice that I couldn’t use because my partner is very sensitive to scents, and then we found that a friend of ours had been wanting some of the original scent, as It reminds her of her father. So I gave her my nearly full bottle. She’s been absolutely thrilled with it and has had a number of comments.

I switched from the (german) Wilkinson blade to a new KCG blade and again I promptly saw, how gentle the KCG blade is. You just can't go wrong with it.

I've had some great shaves lately, using Battle Brothers double-edge blades in my Rex Ambassador. On the subject of Bay Rums, I've found Thor's Hammer to be an excellent selection ... reminiscent of the old Burt's Bees Bay Rum from back in the day.

@BGR I would bet the Battle Brothers blades are Personna (AccuTek). Neither here nor there, except if you like those blades and you are shopping for lower prices, you might look at Personna blades at the usual places online.

Hello, aihpcfl: Thanks for the tip. I'd been looking at the Personna Med Prep blades but found them to be a bit pricey. I will look into the AccuTek blades. Best regards, --BGR

FWIW, what I understand is AccuTek is a manufacturer that now owns the Personna brand in North America.

Also, from what I understand, the difference between the Med Prep blades and the standard blades is sterilization requirements, but I did some quick searching and it looks like there are other differences, including coatings and consistency across batches. Also, it seems the Med Prep blades were discontinued in late 2023 and rebranded as AccuThrive Double Edge Prep Blades.

Additionally, and so far as I can tell this information is still current, the Personna Lab Blue blades are manufactured by AccuTek in the United States, but the Personna Platinum Chrome blades are now manufactured in Germany, likely by Wilkinson. (The use of the Personna brand name by a German manufacturer goes back to the deals made when Energizer divested its blade division. So, bottom line, the Personna Platinum Chrome blades are not made in the USA by AccuTek, but in Germany, likely by Wilkinson. Further bit of trivia, the Platinum Chrome blades formerly were Israeli Reds, which many think are great blades.)

Again FWIW, I worked through a 100-pack of the med prep blades and actually just finished them a few weeks ago. I found them ok but not worth buying again.

Excellent shave! Again you can see the gentleness, but also the good sharpness of the KCG DE blade.

I won't be seen here much anymore. Sadly, the Mods have nuked a firearms thread here. No reason given, just evidently someone's politics have spoken up. It is especially insulting to me as I have been stabbed, scalded and had my back broken in 26 years as a Law Officer and the Supreme Court has recognized that the Second Amendment is an individual right.

Wow. I had no idea, and it is sad to hear.

I have been using only double edge safety razors for past 15 years.
I own:
- Merkur 15 C;
- Merkur 34 C;
- Merkur 37 C Slant Bar.

Merkur 37 C is the one I prefer for everyday use.
Blades: I've tried Astra, Feather, KAI, Treet, Personna, Gillette (both made in USA and made in Russia) amongst others. Astra is my entry level favorite one. KAI probably the best choice in the upper range. Feather makes great blades, maybe a little too hard for my taste. But it's totally personal, of course.

As of shaving creams my favorite is Bignoli produced by Italian company Saponificio Bignoli.
