What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Finally got cold enough to wear a jacket. FW Mulholland seeing plenty of wear this past 4 months since I got it. @jeo the jackets front and back panels haven't changed much but them sleeves though. . . The sleeves feel it has shortened by 0.5-0.75"

Especially on the right side where it has smoother grain but the left sleeves is surprisingly having rolls/crease despite the heavy grains

That's some grain! Shortened with almost 0.75 wow! I wonder if the sleeves on my goat jacket will shorten in time.

Almost, but it certainly feels a lot shorter and going back on the initial fit photos of the jacket it is clearly noticeable atleast in my pov. It will probably crease a lot since the sleeves on your jacket is pretty slim but it will only get to that once it gets wet and the creases really sets in

My only suggestion would be to scale down the shape of the cording around the handwarmer pockets. On a lady, the current position is a bit awkward and not so flattering IMHO.

You are right, I wanted the cord frame to have some overall symmetry on top and on both sides but given the short length overall, the top edge is right up the bust... hmm.

This is the Ralph Pugh Cross zip I posted before. After a complete restoration at Dena’s, we’ve discovered the old labels inside the lining and it’s a Ward! But, could still be contracted at RP. What’s interesting is this even-pebble cowhide used. We associate vintage and high end repro leather with natural grain or smooth/corrected grain, but never this even-pebbles, but it was indeed used back in the days. I think the artificial even-sized pabbles was seen too often on Asia-tanned cowhide/water buffalo, but in fact, Hermann Oak’s domestic steerhide is very much like this, hefty and pebbled, and I don’t think it’s printed, but I’m not sure.

What a find! I've mentioned the similarities with the RP and Wards labels. This confirms they were making jackets for Montgomery Ward. Incredible.

This MW label has their name, which I assume is later.

I will be going down to Dena's sometime soon. Look forward to interviewing her.

Remember that Ralphs-Pugh had easy access to Northern California's high quality leather tanning industry. I have other jackets from the Bay area with very unique leather.

Seems like some of those lost in sleeve length happened on the cuff, usually cuff is the last to break in, in yours seems like the last few months since you wear the cuff buttoned it creases there and totally looks broken in with creases. By looking at photos of vintages here seems like overtime these deep creases will ease up as the leather getting softer leaving behind grains and wrinkles but nowhere as deep and pronounced like when the jacket is semi new and then you gain some of your lost sleeve length back.

I think you are absolutely right. I wear it buttoned up all the time and the creases have formed there too. I was able to slip the jacket on/off with the button snapped but now I have to unbutton it when putting it on/off. It does look cool right now but I know what you mean, my other jackets had that same deep pronounced creases that have eased up. I hope I'm able to keep my weight lol so i can wear the jacket for longer and hopefully get it to that vintage look years down the line

Here's my 2nd Cal Leather Jacket, i actually saw that @Monitor posted it on here for sale after i had bought it.

I'll be honest it doesn't fit as good as my other one, its much longer in the arms and not as fitted in the shoulders like my other but i still love the jacket. I've even found myself rolling back the sleeves at times.

I'm a big fan of vintage jackets with lots of patina.
