Hello there! I’m looking to see if anyone can identify this jacket I found at an estate sale. The talon hardware and style suggests 1930s but I’d appreciate if an expert could confirm or if anyone knows what brand it could be based on the pattern.
Just lately I'm seeing tons of newbies here doing this, two were here discussing gambling sites yesterdayI saw this jacket on ebay. It is a rather non-descript half-belt, the back is rather plain. The zipper dates to the mid 40s.
You see these crazy BIN prices all the time. If you don't know the value, then why make one up? Just run an auction and take what you get.
This silly approach does not fool anyone. There are tons of this on ebay. They just sit there. Some are interesting jackets and would do well at auction, but they sit there with a BIN that no one will buy. I don't get it.
Absolute chancerThis guy also has the same jacket listed twice for two different outrageous prices.
WTF? Or am I missing something here?

You've nailed it, what you believe is a fair price, not jumping on here and finding help to line your pockets^^Absolutely.
I have done very well with jackets (and boots) on ebay starting with $0.99 7-day no reserve auctions. Sure, once in a while you get one that just does not move, but if you provide good photos & full dimensions & details of what you know, the market audience will determine the value. I may often try them a while at what I believe is a fair price, and if they do not sell, but have watchers, convert to a low-starting point auction and let it go.
200 bucks max not 5000Too bad the sleeves are too short for you. I'm sure otherwise you would have worn the jacket with pride.
I'll give you some information but I doubt it'll advance your sale.
I've seen this particular Horsehide label before, used on early 50s Excelled motorcycle jackets. So this might be a 40s Excelled.
Please add this information to your listing and remove the silly Hercules, Aero and Buco references.
Later Excelled jackets are known for their mediocre quality.
With the collar being worn through, I'd say your jacket is worth about $150-$200 at best.

Yes, they have been around since 1927 and are still going. It's pretty incredible when you think about all the manufacturers that have come and gone during that time. Once again, the leather jacket community owes a huge debt to Jewish immigrants who came to the USA from Europe and brought their manufacturing skills. The Goldmans came from Poland or Russia, depending on the sources I found.@Biff42 it might be interesting to dive into the history of Excelled?
