And let's not even talk about the hide options (if only because Major would have a hell of a time in photoshop :))

Something this special is going to require a special hide, dontcha think? Some "reserved for a rainy day" Shinki or similar

Here's where the current design input came from:

Basic pocket design - Edward

Curved pockets - Sir Jacket

Button & loop fastening - Edward

Angle of pockets - Hoosierdaddy

:D:D

Thanks, Major, but may I modestly suggest that it was I who also pushed for the idea of handwarmers in the first place?

I still think they need a slight curve -- and perhaps a half-inch hem (or whatever you call it on a pocket).

Let us PLEASE not derail this thread with lengthy discussion over whose idea what was. We got some good creative mojo flowin at the moment that I don't want to dry up!! ;)

I warn you now: there would be some pretty hard rules about trouser cuffing.:D

Better trouser cuffs than fisticuffs! ;)

OK, here's both the curved pocket versions - one more horizontal than the other. Take your pick:D;)

curveddouble.jpg

The one on the left for those who use them as handwarmer pockets, and the one of the right for those of us who stow our hands in our jean pockets and our mobiles in the jacket.

I would happily stop with the two insert pockets - that's a really good, clean looking jacket. Ladies and gents, introducing the Double M! Or perhaps, The Lounger :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap :D *Edit: actually, I'm sure this could be messed with endlessly. There's something about the jacket front that lends itself to it.

Yes, I don't think it needs the chest pocket... though I'd add one internal pocket, on the right, for my wallet.

+1 And you could have a cloth version: the Aerominor.

That's a bingo! (That is how you say it, right? That's a bingo?)

No, I wasn't drawing that analogy - would not want to offend anyone in here - and you're absolutely right, the KJB is lovely artefact. But can you imagine if they tried to do the same thing with a modern committee: "Okay, first up on the agenda: the seven deadly sins and the 10 commandments. Here's my thinking: on the second one, let's just boil it down to a single mission statement, with the first, we need something tweetable, otherwise it'll never fly. Right, who wants to open the blue skying?"

Just teasing.

Here we are, as requested, back to straight pockets, retaining the button & loop fastenings.....

Here's the same thing, but with a little zippo pocket up top.....

Maj, don't like any of those nearly as much as the Aeromarine that you recently acquired.

I'd certainly stick with the hide you've got MM. I suppose I prefer the hand-warmers, but to me it's all about that shawl collar and the A-1 fit.

Don't worry, Craig. The likelihood of me buying a black leather is VERY remote:D;)

I think russet, battered brown or cream, in that order. Having looked at it, the latter, I think, commends itself with a certain old world Hollywood sophistication.

I tried it on in the factory, but something about the fit just didn't suit me. I'm sure it could work for somebody else - though the rough 'n' ready hide lives up its name tho!
