Always! I've worked from home her whole life, so she became extra snuggly when she found out I was going to be working outside the home. She has been sitting in my lap a lot, soaking up as many hugs and kisses as she can.

I'm hopping to get everything finished with the '65 Ford by the end of next month. It's been a long (too damn long) process. It's all but imposible to find someone who will do a little body work and paint (like it should be painted) a "real" car. Shops today are used to sticking a new plastic piece on and that's it. Also, it's way more profitable to do insurance claims than have your shop tied up for a month or so repairing, stripping, sanding, priming, and painting an entire car. Long story short, the guy I have doing the work is a well-respected person (he's done work gor me and my Dad over the years). He will do an excellent job for a fair price, but I have to abide by his schedule. I'll be glad when it's done!

Yes, going with the original blue color. Same color it's always been, just a bit faded out over all the years.

During our apartment restoration, we encountered the same thing many times. Most workshops just want to bang out the "commoditized" new stuff; whereas, you have to hunt out the old-school craftsmen who will do things like build true box wood drawers on wood runners for your kitchen cabinets, strip and refinish old radiators to look like they did originally, wire old fixtures, and on and on.
Most of those guys are great, are relatively reasonable priced, but you have to abide by their schedule as the people who care about having work done right, have found these guys out and they have all the business they need. I currently have a 1928 radiator sitting up in The Bronx with a metal guy who will strip and refinish it for us at a reasonable price, but only "when I have some time to get to it." Which hopefully will before December or it's going to be a very cold winter in Fading Fast's apartment.
Sigh, but I respect him. He cares about his work and could probably charge double and not lose any business.

Thank you, yes the floors have a lot of history.
My granddad made and installed it many years ago. ( pretty much everything in that house but the floors he was particularly proud of )
It's pretty damaged in some places but I'm trying to make sure it gets restored.
We are in what will be my showroom. The workshop is the next 2 rooms...

Time sure does go by fast, way too fast. I can remember when I started the first grade like it was yesterday. Now, I have a grandchild in highschool.

That is incredible history - I'm so glad you are still there and are restoring it as you can. The best of luck - please post pictures of the showroom when you get it up and running.
