A good year would be around 1985. That was the time when Borsalino moved from the old factory in Alessandria to the current location outside of town.
The best way to differentiate between the old and new hats is the way the linings were put into the hats . After they moved the company no longer sewed the linings in .They were glued in.

My guess would be the mid 1960s to early 1970s but maybe Besdor / Steven knows. I haven't come across a German market Borsalino with a Felted Edge. Are there are any Italian market examples?

Are the Borsalino hats made today worth the retail price? Don't know anything about the Borsalino except I like the look. Are they like the big mfg companies in the USA in that the quality dropped in the 60s? I'm thinking of getting a couple but don't want to waist my limited funds.
