I need to remove the liner from my Federation IV for cleaning. I see that it is tacked in place with glue. What glue should I use for reinstalling? Also, any tips on this procedure would be appreciated. I took the liner out on another Fedora and never could get it back in right. Since it was a cheaper hat, I just left it out.

Some of the members here remove the liners in their hats during the warmer summer months, then put them back in for the colder winter months. I've never once seen "glue" mentioned--they simply put the liners back in and tuck the edges behind the sweatband, and that seems to work pretty well.

Yep, that's what I do when installing a liner.

I have used double sided tape to secure the liner and it works well. Cut three small pieces (1/4" x 1/2" approx) and place them equidistant around the circumference behind the sweat. Holds the liner nicely.

It's a "placeholder" for the emoticon it formerly linked to; "eusa_doh" was the file name for that emoticon. When those emoticons were still in use you/we would see them in the posts instead of these placeholders. The old emoticons are gone, but the placeholders remain and become visible because there's nothing for them to link to.

To hold their shape I presume, some liners are floppy especially after cleaning. I read it here somewhere twice.

Let me know how this works out. I'm still looking for a black and a chocolate brown homburg. I want vintage Stetson St Regis hommies to match the grey I already have, but my 7 5/8 to 7 3/4 size requirement makes finding them a tough job.

If you like the homburg your get from Mr. Papa maybe I'll go the new route.

Curious to see how you like that non-hom. It'd be nice to have an affordable option for the European hat body colors. Whenever I see a new hat from Esther it's some color I've never seen that's not available here in the states.

Please help me identify this hat. All I know is that it is a Borsalino and it originally came from JJ Hat Center in New York. It's light brown/fawn colour and by the brand marking on the ribbon knot I assume it is fairly modern.

A vintage Greek Borsalino arrived today. I gave it a camp fuel bath only to catch the sweat on the hat rack I was using to dry it. I popped about twenty stitches out of the unreeded sweatband.

The leather isn't dry or cracked and the holes are still there so I'm guessing the quickest path is to redo those stitches. Does that sound like the right approach or should they all be redone? With no local hatters to help me it looks like I'll be investing in a needle and thread. Is there a size of millinery needle or a type of thread you recommend for this? Will the ribbon need to be removed?
