Does anyone know the origins of the oval, stiff bristled "Military Hair Brush"? Was this a standard issue part of the DOP kit at some point? Thanks!

An effective, modern alternative (gasp!) is Jack Black's Pomade. Okay it's not The Real Deal, but it holds well, washes out easily and has no real scent to speak of so it doesn't interfere with the wonderful smell of my Pinaud aftershave powder.....which my wife loves.:D
