i think i saw a shot of the innards of the hat and it was an Adams, I wouldn't mind watching the whole series over again just to find out.
i got a Malory fur porkie and had Optima fit it for me. works better for me than wool up here in Michigan.
i feel i my be stating the obvious but still ill say it , ebay has plenty porkies at reasonable prices , it just takes time to find one your size. I got impatient myself and got a nice Mallory that was to small and had Optimo resize it for me. Looking back i prolly could have gotten a better...
Porkies RULE so go get one if you need more encouragement take a gander at the porkpie thread , in the long run if you are like most of us you will wind up with at least a few different hats any how. i cant wait to see you in one.

i know some are against even a cotton, rayon mix if the rayon is the newer stuff (synthetic, not made with wood fiber) because it dose not conform well. That said there's nothing to keep you from forming your own opinion by trying to make some ribbons for a hat or 2 if nothing else it would give...
I need a fez:
- i love hats with flat tops.
-its the ultimate in stingy brims.
-its the only hat i would feel right wearing inside my house.
-the perfect excuse for getting a smoking jacket.
and anyway who needs reasons for needing a fez for cryin' out loud it's a FEZ nuff said.

i get 7 3/8" going from the measurements and using www.csgnetwork.com/circumellipse.html and www.genaconti.com/HatSizeConversion.htm it is a very nice hat i hope a lounger got it so we can drool over it properly.
Interesting, here at the U of M now that its subzero temps there are alot of bomber hats showing up more coeds seem to be sporting them than the men i wish i had some good snaps of them. they are wearing them with down coats, black stretch pants, and mukluks.
Hutch i am hardly qualified to pass out advice but if i may say so it looks like you have a the same sort of problem i had to start with, ie. the crown looks to be to low especially the back. what dose it measure ? the thing is when i got my hat creased so the the "inner teardrop" dose not rise...
I have spent hours brushing my longhair Knox to shine and it finely is shining nicely now.
I am betting if you just give you hat a good shake or rub it the wrong way with your hands the shine will almost completely go away with no harm to the hat.
its hard to capture the shine on camera this...
