I like the petrol color a lot. Rodolfo's is great, but yours looks a bit darker and more muted. Really rings my bells.

Thanks, Charlie. The hat wil be with me and I hope someone tall is sitting behind. Thanks for the compliment on the boots. Some elephants I've had for quite awhile. Yeah, gator belly is one of the most expensive leathers makers offer due to the expense of the hides and depending on size, they may only get one pair out of a hide. In your case it might take a couple. Funny you mentioned Covington as I went to his site yesterday and he's moved to Elizabeth, Co.
As to the wife, you're on your own. I usually live by the beg for forgiveness later motto.

Every once in a while there's a discussion about the "Imperial vs. Heritage" issue, so if/when you have the time you might want to read through some of the dedicated Akubra threads. Even among more experienced hat wearers opinions are somewhat mixed and it seems to boil down to personal preference, but those posts might contain information/opinions I've missed.

See, there's the rub. Some of my hats are 5 1/4, some are 5 1/8, some are either 57, 58, or 59, some are medium some are large. The all fit great, why can't the sizing be more consistent among brands? What's the deal with sizing anyway?

Very unique ribbon and binding contrast to the hat body. I like it...a lot!Last night snowblowing in a Stormy Kromer. Wind gusts to upper 40 's mph.

Happy Birthday, MM! Wahoo Wa!To celebrate my birthday, I'm wearing my present that arrived yesterday.
Knox Superfine from the 1940s.
The hat belonged to Brigadier General Jerome J. Waters, Jr. Waters served in World War I as a Captain in the 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Division. During that service, he was awarded three Silver Stars for "gallantry in action" on July 21, 1918 near Villemontoire, France.
In World War II, Waters commanded an artillery training center in China to train nationalist Chinese (known as the Y Force) for defense against the Japanese.
After the war, Brig. Gen. Waters was warden at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in the early 1950s. There, he instituted significant reforms and was also taken hostage at knife point by inmates on one occasion.
He died in 1972. I was born in 1972. I can't help but feel that this has worked out nicely.
I also attach a few items related to Brig. Gen. Waters. In the group photo, he is front left.
