Douglas, it looks like you come from a long line of great hat wearers. A great majority of my family pictures are of hatless men.

is actually my great-great-grandfather, sitting in his lawn chair on Great Cranberry Island, Maine. He died in 1929, so the picture is probably from the mid 1920s.

 Your great-great grandfather was a dead ringer for Sigmund Freud!

Hello, one and all! My first post here! I had these two pictures that I posted over on COW showing the leather jackets. the top photo is of my grandfather, I'd say late '30's. The photo underneath is of my grandfather in his Army uniform (he was drafted, so it was post-1941). I don't know who the gentleman is in the hat and leather jacket, but I thought it was cool!

My great grandfather Stephen and his wife Alice in 1939 in Akron, Ohio.

He was born at the end of the Civil War and died 6 years before I was born.

It looks like my family never warmed up to the front pinch.

My Avatar is of my grandparents on their 50th. wedding anniversary in 1954. He never went anywhere without a hat. They both also dipped snuff. She of course did it very ladylike. lol

He was also called Bud from Texas.

I've posted this before, but thought I would again here too.

My great grandfather:

He passed away when I was 7 years old, so I am lucky enough to have a few fond memories of the man.

I've posted these before, but I love these shots of my Grandfather.
Others may imitate Indiana Jones, Indiana Jones imitated my grandfather:

Here he is fishing, in white shirt and bow tie, no less (sorry for the oversized shot):

This is my grandfather sometime during or right after WW2- he died about 20 years before I was born. We think that A-2 he's wearing (consensus is it's a Dubow) was given to him by my uncle who flew P-38's in the CBI. I like the beat up cap he's wearing- lots of character.
Cheers

He looks so sharp in those pix - especially the boater and suit - that it is no wonder he got the pretty girl!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Here's a recently discovered old newspaper photo from West Virginia around 1900. According to the accompanying article one of my ancestors is in this group (I hope he wasn't the one responsible for making sure the telegraph poles were straight).

My Grandparents right after WWII

These are my grandparents, Farris and Edith Morrison. This photo was taken shortly after the end of WWII at the family farm in Chariton Iowa.

Edit:
I just spoke to my Mother. She took this photo herself in either 1951 or 1952.

I love the combination of fedora and leather jacket. I wish I could wear that today and not be thought of as an Indiana Jones wannabe.

Hi guys,
I really love these pics.
They are full of romanticisme I see your ancestors when they were contributing to build the great America.
I would like to explain it in my language, becouse in english isn't soo easy, for me.
You have a more recent pioneer history, you could remember - better than a lot of European guys - what is well-being made of...,how many sacrifice to obtain it.
Many thanks for your pics and, please, don't stop to post them.

Riccardo.

Thanks RBH.

My grandparents are a couple of the finest folks I've ever known.

I've met very few men that could match my grandfather's character and few women that were as dedicated to their family and as selfless as my grandmother.

They just don't make them like they used to.

;)
