So I've heard the terms "stingy" and "wide" tossed around a lot in relation to brim width, and just thought I'd ask if you all have an opinion as to when one ends and the other begins. Do you consider there to be one absolute stingy brim length that when added to by an 1/8 inch becomes "normal"?

Or maybe I'm off the mark with measurements, and it depends on the face. Can a hat be stingy on one man and wide on the next?

The rule of thumb Anders is 2" That or under is considered "stingy", 2 1/8 + is "normal". The deciding factor for what you should wear is always first, your taste, and second your features and build.

I also think the rest of the hat matters. A 2-1/8 inch tapered crown '60s hat looks stingy on me, but a '30s hat with the same brim width doesn't.
don't know if that made any sense.
