Is this jacket too long?

I like the sleeve length, but i would remove length in the body.
To me it looks 1/2" to 1" too long. I wouldnt like to have the knit hide the front pockets.

Do Thurstons order their stock A2s 1" longer than Aero's norm? I remember reading they do this with the civilian jackets.

It looks fine as is to me, though it could also be an inch shorter. I love the caramel knits on this one... Quite fancy an A2 a lot like this, actually...

looks fine to me. I wonder if it might ride up with wear.

Are you free, Mr Humphries?

Looks fine to me. I’m not sure you could tweak the front length but leaving the back as is. I wouldn’t want the back any shorter.

Looks fine to me! With age and wear, my jackets seem to get shorter, so I always start just slightly long.

looks great to me, if you push the waist knits up a bit to where the bottom of the leather hangs over the knits, that's the WW2 look and will correct the length as it were. You want that lower awesome drape, if the jacket were shorter it would not work, would be too short

If it sat exactly where it is all day I'd say its a touch too long but my guess is it will ride up a bit as you wear it around.

Have you tried that? Wear it for 20 mins then snap a picture without adjusting.

Thanks everyone, I’ve ended up going with Carries advice regarding the jackets length , now the wait I guess it could be months before Aero are back up and running again

The length is fine. I wouldn't do anything to it.

Yes indeed I’ve not messed with the length which was also Carries advice based on my fit pics.

So based on her recommendations/my fit pics I’ve gone with the following sizing:

Size 36 with 1 inch added to each side (this should increase waist/bottom hem circumference by 2 inches total)

SLEEVE LENGTH- 26 inches (fit jacket is 26 inches)

BODY LENGTH- __as per fit jacket _ (fit jacket is 26.25 inches)

The rest is probably not everyones cup of tea but I wanted something a little bit different with this jacket.
  1. Black Vicenza Horsehide - Grainy
  2. Dark Seal Brown Knits
  3. Light Tan contrast stitching
  4. All pockets are lined with moleskin
  5. Nickel Talon zipper
  6. Sateen Wine lining
  7. No Inside Pocket
  8. No epaulets
  9. Aero Rock and Roll Label/Thurston Bros Label

It looks fine to me. I like to have a military cut, but for my taste I order one size larger, it gives me a little bit of room. I actually like to wear my jackets. I think you should wear it however it feels good to you. I have looked at countless vintage photos of pilots in world war II, and they vary from flight jackets being way too short on somebody, to looking too big. Sizes were all over the spectrum. There are tales of PX personnel just eyeballing somebody and throwing them a jacket and saying, this will fit.
You have a beautiful jacket. Always wear what you like and what is comfortable, and you'll find that you will end up wanting to wear the jacket more frequently.
