What a superb fit! That's quality tailoring right there. Not only don't you see design like that in suits anymore, its rare to see such a well-fitted suit. :eusa_clap

Good lad! Did he travel to the US or was this a 'distance consultation'? If so, would you consider the latter for non-celebrities?

Mr. Deckard, those vest bottoms look awfully straight. And unpointy. And modern. What's up?

That vest looks awfully like the kind that James Oviatt --a fashion iconoclast if there ever was one-- designed for his haberdashery, Alexander & Oviatt, in the mid 1920s. I once showed Matt Deckard the store's 1925 catalogue, with several photos of the "Oviatt Model" vests inside. I wonder if Matt consciously or unconsciously followed their design?

That gray suit is absolutely perfect. One day when i've got money in the bank i'm going to demand some of Mr. Deckard's work.

To be clear, I think the suit looks great. A number of people have complained here, however, that modern vests have straight, gently pointed bottoms that don't accurately imitate the more curved, acutely pointed bottoms of vintage vests. I was therefore surprised to see such a modern-looking shape on one of Matt's suits, since he's such a fanatic for period detail. If he's deliberately aped the Oviatt model, I have no problem with that.

Vanian looks brilliant in that suit. Just brilliant. Every detail is superb. I'd prefer more pointed vest-bottoms too, but that's nothing compared to the overall effect: the wide legs, the belt-back, the lapels, everything.

I still have my old Damned records.

This seems to be the first suit on your website (the "Laureate"? I forgot what it was called) but with peak lapels instead of notch.

I'm awful tempted ... let's see if I can raid my penny jar ...
