Overcoat sizing question

I wear a size 36S suit. It's my understanding that overcoats are sized the same. I'm looking to buy one online, and wonder if something marked 36L would be appropriate. I don't know which measurements would be different relative to a 36S. The length of hem, and length of sleeves would be different (I'd assume). I wonder about the position of the armhole and the extent to which collar extends downward. Any ideas?

Similarly, would the relationship be similar when considering a size 36 vs 36S overcoat? Thanks.

I would get an overcoat that is sized the same as my suit coat. They are fitted to be worn over the same size suit or sport coat. Normally the only difference is in the length of the sleeve and the length of the hem. Don't think the armhole position or the collar shape would be affected.
