That is really nice....like it was made that way, sharp. I note no taper in the pictures and the way you have it bashed, super!Selco Silver Beaver Select. Purchased from eBay as new old stock. The sweat was dry rotted and needed to be replaced. I sent it to VS for the new sweat and also asked that the black ribbon be replaced with one in wine with a black striped bow keeper. I think the dark but not black ribbon gives it versatility that all blacks hat lack (my opinion only).
I normally don’t go for black hats other than Homburgs. This one caught my eye, I just wish the sweat had been in good shape. I miss the embossing that was on the original sweat.

Steve, still a great looking hat despite the modifications. The brim certainly does look somewhat clipped. What makes you think the hat was specifically designed for the Scandinavian market? I understand the text as stating that Adolph Kaiser in Stockholm was a representative for Steco not that their hats were necessarily modified to suit Scandinavian fashion.STECO "Otter Velour" probably late 1930s. Unfortunately this hat was modified. The ribbon / bow was replaced and the brim was probably cut. Luckily I was able to find out that STECO was Friedrich Steinberg Herrmann & Co. Hutfabrik Luckenwalde (Germany). The "Otter Velour" was most likely STECO's answer to J. Hückel ´s Söhne's "Seal Velour". The Velour (finish, hand, color) and original components (liner and sweatband) are very high quality.

From "Deutsche Hutmacher-Zeitung (German Hat Maker News)", December 15, 1936 from the from the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Bad Homburg , Germany collection. This a special edition for the Scandinavian market.
Nice find, Steve. I particularly like the liner logo.R. Hecht Leipzig - Theater Passage - Grimmaishe Str. 12, Wool, 58cm, 160 grams probably 1930s. The Wool is dense and the finish is very smooth. There is only a small fragment of main paper stamp remaining behind the sweatband. The main paper tag is the same type as a number of other German hats I have that don't have a company mark. My guess is that these hats were made by one of the large scale German Hat Companies that were located in Eastern Germany that produced both Wool and Fur Felt hats but didn't survive WWII.
The above cm size tag and main paper stamp fragment are similar to the this hat.
