My Champ black fedora

I'm guessing it's from the '60s based on what looks like a picture of a 707 on the lining:

It has a wind trolley.

Yeah. In comparing these photos, I'd have to agree.

What I might do now, though, is look for a hat with a wide brim and a tapered crown. We'll see what effect I can get with that.
Borsalino's and Stetsons have some taper with some larger brims. Custom made is always good as well.

I am rather thin, and the two hats imbue me with two rather different characters.

Seeing these photos remind me of a book I read a few years back: The Company by Robert Littell. As I read it, I pictured a guy who looked just like you with those fedoras playing Jack McAuliffe in the book. Read it if you haven't, and you will see what I mean.

Looks to me like the sweat was replaced. At that time they may have reblocked it.
Hard to believe that wasn't a snap brim or fedora hat. Interesting that the celophane remained intact after the sweat.

5-5/8" x 2-11/16+". Yes, thats a Cellophane clear liner protector on a 40's hat--not the later soft plastic. I wonder how many hats had these and they just didn't survive. Has a deep center crease and deep front pinches and does not desire to be snapped-nor does it show signs that it was. Color is Chocolate.

World Traveler. 1 month journey from Italy after being sold originally in Nicaragua. Rough finish in Banana Color. Made in 1977 but has a taped seam and oilskin like tip protector. Whip-stitched edge.

This pork pie came in with perfect felt but was pretty dirty and the sweatband was rotten. Since I got it for a song, I had some budget so I sent it to Optimo for cleaning, blocking and sweat band. I think it turned out OK.
