This fellow arrived tonight. Still trying to work out the best way to photograph him.

This hat is very beautiful and incredibly comfortable.

More on the Borsa thread once I sort out a better way to photograph him. For now, very big thanks to @BrianB - you’ll be happy to know that this guy fits me perfectly!

That is another beauty, Nathan. You have some catching up to do in the homburg nation thread!

From classic Italiana to classic Americana.

Based on the sweatband style and the logo, I want to say this Penney’s Marathon is a 40s hat. However, it originally had an onion skin liner tip (which was cut out but there are still traces), so I’m not sure.

Pretty solid hat but noticeably inferior to my 15s. This feels like a working man’s hat, which makes me like it even more. Original price was just under $4.

2-5/8 inch brim with a light-weight, early-summer felt. The liner feels like some early version of polyester, but also very thin.

Some mothing but mostly on the underbrim.

Pretty cool.

Thanks Bob, interesting info about the perm-aseptic. That stuff might be fine for hats, but apparently you don’t want to use it on diapers: here’s a Twitter post that claims the Perm-aseptic brand went out of business in 1945 due to diaper rash.

Interesting. Makes sense though. Any time you kill off bacteria it takes the good bacteria with it. Probably left the baby’s skin very susceptible to fungal infection

You wear a homburg quite well. They are such cool looking hats. I just have never gotten used to how I look in one.

My new John Batterson showed up today, and wow is it really nice! The felt has a wonderful hand to it. It is very soft and creases with ease. It has a 2 5/8" felted edge brim, 2" ribbon, and a 6" open crown. The size tag and reorder tag make me think it is similar vintage to a 50s Stetson, and at $20 I think was a pretty nice hat in it's time. I would be interested to know what you all think about it's age.

Quite nice Simeon…. Definitely looks like it’s got some Stetson bones.

Beautiful J.
Reminds me much of a Borsalino Gorasgu of which you have.
Would love to hear your comparison thoughts??
B
Sorry for the tardy response, B. Been spending more time over in the Outerwear portion of the forum lately.

They're both great hats but fairly different. My Averla Gorasgu felt is definitely thinner and lighter weight, 100g vs 135g for the Mac . The Gorasgu is more conducive for a sharper crease. The Mac is extremely dense, more claylike. I have it creased with more of a soft roll. In terms of density it reminds me more of my MGL.

One interesting feature they do share is incorporating a ventilation design in the front of the hat.

Definitely spoiled to have both. Well, all three counting the MGL. ;)
