Stetson Fifteen Suede Finish 3X Beaver Quality

Just received this brown Stetson Fifteen 3X Beaver Quality in Suede Finish. Very soft and floppy hat. I don't think there is any stiffener in this hat. Nice triple stitched brim edge and understated single knot ribbon/tie.

Wacker Drive Slouch Hat

Found this oldy yesterday. Definitely dirty but worth some cleanup effort. Marked Wacker Drive and C.H. Wegner Wausau, Wi. Found references to Wegner from the early to mid-1900s but I don't think thats the retailer mark. I think it may have been a personal hat of his. Hope it cleans up nice. Looks like initials in the Wacker Drive crest, maybe a backwards F and then an H or a K.

This is definitely lower Wacker Drive. Sorry, I hear "Wacker Drive" and I can't help making a Blues Brothers reference. Once it's cleaned up it'll definitely be upper Wacker Drive. ;)

Great finds!

Great Hat! Wacker Drive was named in 1925(formerly South Water) and the double deck development begun. Thought it might be Keith Brothers Hat Co. but looks different(They overlay H,B,K). Probably a retailer. Lots of clothing stores on Wacker Drive at that time.

Ok, it cleaned up really nice. Here are a couple of after shots.

The hat dimensions and shaping lead me to think it is pre-1920s, somewhere between Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders era and the beginning of World War I, with emphasis on the former, because it has sort of a Western look which I associate with the earlier era.

I'd have the gilding /gold lettering retouched...FWIW.

1930s Sieg Felt purchased from Garrett. Navy blue with teal ribbon/bow.

2" brim, 5 1/4" (!!!) bashed crown: the way stingies were meant to be.
