"I really like your shoes, Dr. Jones. However, at the moment I would not want to be in them."

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom ( I think, could have been the first one)

"Serenity" is a treasure trove of memorable quotes, as is it's TV predecessor "Firefly". (At least for me)

Jayne: "Hell, I'll kill a man in a fair fight... or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight, or if he bothers me, or if there's a woman, or if I'm gettin' paid - mostly only when I'm gettin' paid. But these Reavers... last ten years they show up like the bogeyman from stories. Eating people alive? Where's that get fun?"

Wash: "Can I make a suggestion that doesn't involve violence, or is this the wrong crowd for that?"

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: What was that?
Wash: Did you see that?
Mal: Was that the primary buffer panel?
Wash: It did seem to resemble...
Mal: Did the primary buffer panel just fall off my gorram ship for no apparent reason?
Wash: [Checks his instruments] Looks like.
Mal: I thought Kaylee checked the entry couplings. I've a very clear recollection of it.
Wash: Well, if she doesn't get us some extra flow from the engine room to offset the burn-through, this landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting."
Wash: [Deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die.
Mal: [Grabs PA microphone] This is the captain. We're having a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.
[Hangs up microphone]
Mal: Can you shave the vector?
Wash: I'm doing it, it's not enough.
Mal: Well, just get us on the ground.
Wash: "That part'll happen pretty definitely"
Jayne: We're gonna explode? I don't wanna explode!

Sam Spade: When you're slapped, you'll take it and like it. < This makes me laugh every time!

Dr. Blandine Bentham: Cigarette smoking calms the nerves and gives you confidence. < the King's Speech (must see)

What an absurd idea! What an absurd idea! Lady, you got ten absurd ideas for my one! Ha." --Humphrey Bogart. < The African Queen

"Here's looking at you, Kid." --Humphrey Bogart. < Casablanca

"How dare you yell cut on my set!"

"In twenty-two seconds I can break your (expletive deleted) spine. In twenty-two seconds I can pinch your head off like a (expletive deleted) insect and spill it all over the (expletive deleted) pavement. In twenty-two seconds I can put twenty-two bullets into your ridiculous gut. But I seem unable to do in twenty-two seconds is to keep you from (expletive deleted) up my film!"

...Eli Cross (Peter O'Toole), The Stunt Man (1980)

The portrayal of Fredo in 1 and 2 is a fantastic one by Frank Cazale. The character development is really great and you know Fredo is doomed because he is weak and inept in a cut throat world.

Ironically Fredo was the only family member who was supportive of Michael's decision to join the Marines during the war. Then there's the part where Fredo says a Hail Mary just before he is killed. It's never made clear whether he's praying for luck as he always did when fishing or whether the prayer was for himself because he knew he was going to die.

And it seems that Coppola did an oblique take-off of Fredo death scene in Apocalypse Now where Chef (Frederic Forrest), freaked out by his encounter with the tiger, is babbling "never get off the boat," "never get off the boat."

From "West Point Story"; Eve Dylan (Virginia Mayo) and Elwin "Bix" Bixby (James Cagney) are discussing whether or not to include a woman as the princess in an all-male play at the military academy:
Eve: "Well on woman couldn't hurt..."
Bix: "That's what Adam said, Eve!"

Capt. Renault "Here I am master of my destiny, commander of my fate .... " paraphrased
Waiter "Sir, Major Strasser to see you" and Louis leaves immediately
Rick "Ah, I see, Gestapo spank"

Black Jack Shellaque: You think you're tougher than me? (In a really bad French accent)
Bugs Bunny: Yep.

(Sorry - not technically a movie, but we watched this last night and I hadn't seen it in years. Forgot how darn funny those old Bugs Bunny cartoons are.)

[Holding up bowling ball] "What the f%$# is this?" Dude: "Obviously, you're not a golfer."

Dude: "They're not Nazis, Walter, they're nihilists." Walter: "Nihilists. Wow. Say what you want about National Socialism, at least it's an ethos."

Most of the ones I can think of right now are from Withnail and I.

Uncle Monty: 'I'm preparing myself to forgive you...' (I use that quite a bit), Monty, again: 'Oh, he's so mauve...we don't know what he'll do next!'

Uncle Monty: 'Hare, here, hare?, etc

and of course the killer: 'MONTY, YOU TERRIBLE C**T!'

I can't say I quote that one though! It's one of those endlessly quotable films. Apologies for the profanities, but it's that kind of film!

You had to get me started:

Marwood: "I think there's something living in there [the kitchen sink], something alive!" Withnail: "What do you mean, a rat?" Marwood: "It's possible, it's possible..." Withnail: "Then the f*&%#@ will rue the day!"

Marwood [writing to journal] : "Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day. For once I'm inclined to agree with Withnail - we are indeed living in the arena of the unwell."
