It's not unusual for me to find old photos stuck between the pages of books that I buy. Here's a few of them. I love old photos but I hate the postage stamp-sized prints that they frequently came in.

VCBrusnswick, I'm intrigued! What was the book that had these photos in the pages? Have you ever had enough information from the photos you've found to research the people in them?

Unfortunately I don't remember where I acquired these photos so I really know nothing about the subjects of these pics, though the bottom three pics appear to have been taken somewhere in California. Perhaps somebody out there surfing this site might recognize one of these ladies as their grandmother or great grandmother.

Gosh, V. C. Brunswick, where exactly are you buying your books? Those are spectacular finds! I love the adorable perfectly '20s outfits those gals have on.

Hope this isn't a repeat, but I love these pictures from the Library of Congress; check out those vivid cotton prints:

I just love this picture, messy tinting job and all:

I have no idea who this is -- I pinched the photo from eBay -- but I'm very very taken with her socks and shoes.

Probably 1936-38 or so, judging from the hair. I think the dress is probably a waitress or counter-girl uniform.

My maternal grandparents on their wedding day in Lapland, Sweden in 1938... I really wish I had more photos from this time, but this is the only one I have.

I love this thread!
When the Alzheimer's started sneaking up on her, my grandmother burned boxes full of photos from when she was a young woman in the 30s -- said she didn't want anyone seeing them because she "looked fat" (my Gran was always slim; disordered body image is clearly not just a modern thing). Such a shame... beach parties, balls, picnics... all gone.

I found these, though, on flicr: State Library of South Australia set "Women At War", shot in 1942-43 by photographer Smith, D. Darian.
(I've never posted anything before, so I'm crossing my fingers that all the links work)

welcome just.another.amy! I especially like link 3, because that girl is wearing her hair pretty much like I do, and she's wearing a scotty dog brooch which I also like to do! :)

I've borrowed some old family photos from my fiance's grandparents, to scan them into the computer. These aren't scanned, just photographed unfortunately, but I just couldn't wait to share them!

not sure of the decade of this one... can anyone help? Is it 30s or 40s?
Also this one... I'm guessing it's the late 1910s... am I right? (I think this is the woman on the right in the above photo, when she was a bit younger).

and same woman again in the 1920s (I think this is my fiance's grandmother's grandmother)

There's a couple more on my blog, and I'll be posting more soon when I can find my scanner!
