Alan, I don't recall seeing a Lock & Co/Brooks Bros as nice as that one. Great hat and look for you!

Thanks! It's a thick felt hat, with lining long gone and a moth bite. But I quite like the shape of it. I got it in a lot of eBay hats. It's the only one from that lot I still have.

No pic of me wearing it yet, but today I have my reborn/revamped Moonstone Fed, just back from the slimming-cure at Henry the Hatter, where it lost some brim and gained a new matching ribbon:

That looks nice. I've considered something similar with my moonstone Fed, though a color in between the black that comes standard and a match; a dark grey of sorts. The brim looks good too, what's the new width?

m0nk, I'd asked Henry the Hatter to make it 2.5" all around. Well, despite my written instructions, somehow they slipped up and cut it to 2" on the sides, and about 2 1/8 -2 1/4 in the front! Joe, the manager there, apologized, and refunded me the cost of the brim trim. At first I hated it and thought the hat had been ruined. But oddly, I'm starting to like it.

I was considering the brim trimming too, but my wife was concerned it would ruin the hat. Instead, I sanded the front and back down over the course of a week and it's now 2.5" all around. The edge isn't as fine as it would be with a true trimming, but I really just wanted to remove the dimensional shape. I do think that yours looks nice in the pic, but I'm not sure the cut would look nice on me.

Cavanagh homberg morning.

Photo-on-2011-12-05-at-1115-5-S.jpg

I was up early to complete morning chores and then to get dressed for a meeting in downtown MPLS, MN this morning. Blue Blazer, charcoal slacks, blues shirt were the costume that fit the occassion. What hat??? Why of course the Cavanagh homberg. This hat does not blend into the hatless world. It yells homberg. The inky blue with maroon trim does not blend into the crowd. I threw caution to the wind and selected, brushed my hat for the morning. I recieved plenty of "nice hats" this morning and even one "nice homberg."

Here are a couple of pics the hat pre-mtg with my blazer. No lighting, just flash. The pocket silk is maroon.:

I am back at home for a change of attire and off to the gym. A stingy brim for the auto ride and an errand (sending a hat to a forum member).

Glad I broke out of shell today, Eric -
