Wow, that's quite a find. Any labels on it?

Thank you for the reply, and sorry for my delayed response. Actually, there are no labels, and I can't even tell for sure if there ever was a label, leading me to wonder if it was actually store-bought. My grandmother was known for making a lot of her own clothing, so she might have even made it for him. Starting to think I might just find one that looks similar, and then perhaps use a piece of the original tie as a pocket square.

I am sure you could find something similar with a careful search of eBay. I see similar ties for sale all the time. The same color and pattern might be fairly hard though. Knowing the maker would help quite a bit though.

Thanks for the reply! I have started looking through the eBay listings and have found some pretty similar ones, so I think that's what I'll have to do. Wish the tie had a label on it, but there doesn't appear to have ever been one.

I just received two ties in the mail, on in particular interests me, as it's label says Henry the Hatter Detroit! Funny that, right?
The other is a Waldorf, both have great patterns.

Some recently acquired ties... the light is playing some tricks on the photos, there are no discolorations on the ties in reality with exception to the skinny Arrow

California Swagger (top), Exclusive Fabric Resilent "King Size" (bottom)

California Swagger (top - light is messing with the coloring - this tie is probably the cleanest and the best conditioned), No name (bottom)

All of the California Swagger ties were made by Cohama---a great maker of ties in its time. They also sold material.
Haband was also a great maker of ties in that time---when they were American made. Unfortunately, now their stuff is made elsewhere with little style or attention to detail they once had.

Wow, Tommy. I see many ties that I'd be very proud to have in my collection. Come to think of it, I don't think I see any that I wouldn't be proud to have in my collection.

More tie shopping

I prefer my ties to be subtle. This square ended French-Canadian tie (by Art Terroir, Quebec) is a good example:

This one is French (by 'Country'). I like the way the pattern on this one is only visible in certain lights:

This one is by 'Rhodianyl'. I have no idea of its country of origin:

By 'All Silk'. A nice subtle diagonal stripe:

I think the Van Cruise was just more out there in the pattern sense. I have one that literally has a cruise theme to it with cruise ships, sailors and other nautical icons. :p

Could be, but I have a Van Cruise and a friend of mine has one as well, and they're in the standard vein of 1950s ties. Mine has falling rectangles in a rust brown and peach colour scheme. Doesn't really matter too much, just as long as they look good!
