No I didn't. I just carefully used the tools I already had for the modern snaps and tested it first on some other fabric before installing it on the cap.

Dritz Mini-Anorak tools. I had to modify it a little, cause the first time I used it the snap was loose.

Liking the houndstooth, you have fully captured a classic cap by adding those snaps, great work!
