Go on, how about a pic then?

guys, the steerhide highwayman was finally located in my local post office!! the box is dry and te jacket is great! the steerhide looks very smooth and new, also is half the weight as my wet-feeling horsehide halfbelt, which is good! now I'm wearing it in and hopefully will start to see creases!

Ken? have I missed something here, I thought it was Will.

Yeah, Ken is here! Will and Amanda have now left, but we have a new receptionist, and I can be anyones point of contact where they would usually go to Amanda from now on, and will be in the factory full time from now on.

It doesn't appear than either Will or Amanda had the companies best interest at heart for some time, despite the outward appearance to both us and the customers, we're sorry to say.

So, although it's been a shock these changes, we've come to realise, really are the best thing for the future of Aero.

It keeps getting worse. Now Amanda. The company will persevere, of course.

We will, and we'll succeed. We've got more staff in to ensure things run smoothly and logical systems are being put in place where there were none before. The company will be running smoother than ever in no time, hopefully with a much shorter waiting list too.

Have no fears :)

I didn't know that Amanda had left either!!! I have a 30's HB with a lot of modifications and small details on order, so I hope when they get to making the jacket, it is has all the small details that I e-mailed Amanda about. Who do we contact now if we have any questions or if we want any small changes done?

I called up at the factory just after the staff changes, and the place was a hive of activity - and change was definitely in the air! But I have to say, my overriding impression was of a happy bunch of folks who were getting on with the job in hand.

As Holly has stated earlier in this thread, I guess we should all use her email as a point of contact right now :D

All looks a bit concerning ... a large number of the key people who have been the day-day stalwarts and the backbone of Aero over the last 15 years have now left in very short shift.

With all due respect to Ken .. he'd retired from the company years ago ... I wonder who is left .... and what are Amanda, Will and Co. now doing ????

Any ideas Holly ?

I have your mail, will look over the orders today and get back to you. There should be no problem!

The only 'key people' who have left are Will and Amanda, and as I explained this really is the best for the company after things we have discovered, they may have been the backbone but at least in recent years they were not acting with the best interests of Aero in mind. I really can't say anymore than that at this point in time. The only other people who have left are some of the older machinists, many of who were only working part time and were fast approaching their retirement time.

Ken might have retired in 2004, but Aero was founded by him, and the designs belong to him. There really is no better person to be taking control of the company.

There is no need for any concern about who has gone, what is important is Aero is still here and will continue to make the highest quality jackets possible.

Well...it's understandable that many have felt 'attached' to Aero not only because of the wonderful jackets and ease of ordering..but also those personalities that constantly fullfilled needs over many years. Just as it was somewhat of a sad time for many of us when Ken retired...it isn't so easy to have a matter of fact or such a positive view of Will and Amanda's departure now...even if everything is a buzz of excitement of better things within Aero. Certain allegiances can die hard..especially since it was well earned looking at it from our end. It's good to have the master back..and his new team...but there is a feeling of loss..as,I think, there should be.

I'm sorry to hear that Amanda's gone. For a lot of us, she was the public face of Aero, and I hope that things work out for her in future.

I drove from Sheffield to the factory on 16th. October to make a final decision on whether to order the 'un-named' 1920s half belt having seen the prototype on the web site. This was in the midst of the changes and I can report that Ken took my order giving excellent professional advice and I was thoroughly impressed with the service. He also advised where to take lunch - also excellent advice- a great meal. The factory was buzzing and staff morale was clearly high. What more can I say except that I can't wait for the new jacket (in Kudu) to arrive.
