It IS nice. Still toying with the look, but I definitely want to re-block to 5 3/4" H. The brim is 2 3/4", which is tempting to keep, since I don't have anything that wide.

Just got this on ebay for $34 thanks to my small head. Stetson "Suede Finish" 3x beaver fifteen. The marks around came off with a bit of brushing and the sweatband and liner are pristine. By the looks of it the hat didn't see much wear. I don't think the ribbon is original. The felt is so incredibly soft and lightweight unlike anything I've felt before. I haven't gotten around to putting a proper crease yet but will post pics once I do..

Not out of line at all - Tony's prices are right on the Tumwater site - beaver felt with bound brim is $300.00. The Tumwater hats are of fantastic quality and I think one of the best deals in custom hats.

Thanks for the info I didn't realize that they're located just down the street(long street)from me in Olympia, one more question if I may, brim size on your's?

Jeff - thanks, mate. Yes, I can see a Tumwater in your future. I think Tony would be a good match for you.

Dude - the brim is a touch under 2 1/2 and the crown (when open) about 5 3/4.

Early Vita-Felt Stetson Stratoliner

Some moth damage, but otherwise in excellent condition... I couldn't pass this one up. The color is similar to but lighter than my other early 1940s Stratoliner with the same style embroidered crown patch. I will follow up with a comparison post to show the similarities and differences - but I believe this one is a little earlier in the 1940-1942 time frame. It has the gold printed size label and transitional three section manufacturing label which appears somewhere around 1940. It also has a sweatband lot number imprint - unfortunately the third digit is hard to decipher, but I think it is 7607.

2 1/2" brim, 5" crown.
