Looks OK for customisation.
Wait and see before make an but the design of the Drifter jacket is nice, a classic half belt jacket as i'm looking for.

Major knows his stuff. I shot about 50 rock videos back in the early 80s....quit too soon, before there was money in it....and, I know this sounds insane now, but the documentary shot in Telephone of DH putting on her eye make-up and looking in the lens was ground-breaking (and curves or no curves, leather or no leather, it doesn't get sexier than that shot). Thanks for the deja-vu, Maj.

Back in the 1980s I had a friend at work who got Samantha Fox(UK glamour model) to wear his original A2 topless, and got her to sign it in the lining. Kudos' or sacrilege?

It might well have raised the value significantly when Ms Fox was a the height of her celebrity (around the time she was, famously, making more money for getting her bus out than was Margaret Thatcher for being PM), but I should think that by this point all it would do is detract from its originality. Not sure if a "defaced" original lining trumps a well installed replacement? If it was Steve Macqueen's moniker, it might be different...
That's the thing, fit-wise... different folks are always going to like different things. Given the "modern fit" element of the AL mission statement, I suspect they have identified that there are a number of people who want or need a more relaxed fit in their jackets.

I think you'll find my jackets fit me fine ..... I can't help it if you guys prefer jackets which are too small can I ...... and the ARE too small in my opinion ..... in fact they are too small by your own definitions ... " the halfbelt should fit in the small of the back not the kidney" Sloan 1874 .... mine sit 1" (a maximum of 1 1/2" with the Detroit) above the belt of my albeit modern low waist jeans around the area of my natural waist ( not the 1940's waist which was somewhere near the solar plexus). Look at where most of the other pics of what I would call " too small" halfbelts fit relative to the pocket of peoples jeans ( see some of the pics in the Merchants section) ... they are usually WAY higher up the pocket than mine ( mine sit top pocket on the mid point of the wrangler logo), in fact you can usually see the whole pocket ... and on the basis that the halfbelt and adjusters will then sit above the navel ( which is where the kidneys are - well one of them at least to be factually correct anatomically) ... by your own definition these are TOO SMALL.
The shoulders are just tight enough that I can just push my forearms together at the front ( flexing the jacket across my back). They zip up easlily without flaring or gaping and the side adjusters are fine on a mid point with a T-shirt underneath. They are not constraining or restrictive in any way and I can travel on planes, drive cars and ride bikes if I feel like it with no issues what so ever.
Maybe it's me ... but then hey ... I don't live in the 20's, 30's or 40's .... this isn't the 20's, 30's or 40's. From what I've see few of us on here ( with the exception of Sloaney perhaps ... ) are NOT shaped like people were in the 20's, 30's and 40's. Just my opinion guys ... that's the thing about opinions ... they're like arseholse ... all but a very few have them
P.S. This isn't just limited to one jacket ... this is how most of my leathers fit ... that's 17 Aero's to name but a few ... they are ALL of a consistant size (44") with the exception of shearling lined ones which I have gone for 46" with slightly shortened sleeves ( they are not worn on the bike). The exceptions are my two Aero VDR's - which are big for 44's ( but then they are designed as overcoats) and my two Barnstormers which are 42"'s because they are big made and the 44" just looked too long.
P.P.S. I can't help it if you guys like your jackets too small
