LOL! If you had a dollar for every Scout that lost an eyebrow or some hair at some campout I'm sure you'd be rollin' in dough!!! It never fails, get men/boys around a campfire after a long day's slog and SOMETHING involving, fire, knives, hatchets, fireworks etc... is bound to happen.

Of COURSE that GREAT stuff happens... THAT'S why we do it. We can't help it, and as has been said before, we're only helpless victims of our hormones. I think the unwritten rule at my son's Cub Scout den was that unless there was blood, you didn't pass the jackknife chapter... :eeek: I'm only glad that my time in the Scouts happened way back before politics and such took their toll. Even remember going to school in uniform, with a hunting knife on my belt.

The descriptions about scouting "before" are my memories of scouting. A Buck Pathfinder was my Eagle Scout gift from the senior patrol. I wore it proudly on my belt. When I use that knife in the backyard today my scouting memories flood back. I did wear a campaign hat when I did my stint as Aquatics Diretor at a large Scout camp. I will have to look to see if that hat is packed away with my old uniforms. Do you fellows recall the uniform socks with garters? Now that was Boy Scouts! :D

- and nowadays you go on "stoney vacations", returning with your arm in a sling. Man, you're a wild cat, Charlie! lol

Yup. Right out of control. Wild's the word! Only more slowly...

Amazing machinery, Mike. What you do to them is even AS amazing! Keep up the good work, Sir.

And, yes, Eric, I sheepishly admit that I remember the garter socks. It was a different time... (never did get the socks).

And a shot of the 'new' cleaned and painted brim jigger.

I just got confirmation, that I'll be attending a MS Sharepoint conference in Vegas in March. My oldest friend has been living in Nashville for many years, so I'll visit him in the process. A trip to The Ryman is probably on the top, but a visit at Winchester and The Major's shop are also very high on my to-do list, now I'll finally be going to the "neighbourhood". Hope to see you around for a "gear inspection" and a chilly can :)

As you know I bought 2 finger blockers at the Beaver Brand sale this summer, this week a friend of mine who owns a Hat factory, which I will leave the brand name void, needed to borrow the extra one I have , due to his that came from Italy, and has been in use for 7 years, broke 5 weeks aago, 5 more weeks to get the part made and shipped to him. I loaned the other blocker to him, I will alllow them to use for several month even after his gets repaired, to help them get caught up on the boxed hats they sale to retail outlets.

I have to thank you RBH. You gave me my first glimpse of my hats before they came in. That was pretty cool. But this Black Cherry hat is tough to get a good shot of. The color is just endlessly deceptive and shifts a lot with the lightning. So I hope these two shots helps to give a range of the color. The ribbon on this hat really makes it for me and it wasn't attached yet when you RBH took a photo of it in the shop, so I figured I'd post it again completed. You know when your hats are just way cooler than you lol.

Just great work from Mr. Moore and his people. I enjoy fedoras a lot and the soft fur felts, but I really love the big westerns and that heavy weight high end beaver fur felt, of which Buckaroo's has some of the best. I'll post some pics of the others as I get some wear into them, but they are equally great hats. I know we sometimes worry about how the art of hat making is fading away, but, I'm just very happy there are still so many great hat makers around putting out quality work like this. Buckaroos is on my short list of hat makers I must always own a hat from. Thanks guys. Hope I'll get a chance to stop by the store one day.
