I observe carefully the Italian market of second-hand and especially the estates that are put up for auction.
Last week I found in Trieste half a dozen hats for sale.
They were all interesting Borsalino, Barbisio, Panizza, Cervo), but too small for my head, so I focused on two Italian classics.
One of them is a chimera because it is from the end of the thirties that is no longer produced.

It is the other side of the Borsalino: Borsalino fu Lazzaro & C.

It is a Zenit in fantastic light weight felt mauve color

The hat has been preserved in good condition and a more accurate set of photographs will be published in the appropriate thread

The Barbisio is in excellent condition and has a felt among the softest I've ever had in hand.

It is a medium hair felt very malleable and easy to shape it changes just touched

The hat is a classic Italian in proportions and in the astounding finish.
It is very elegant and belongs to the golden age of Italian hatters.

A series of photographs will be published in the discussion dedicated to Barbisio and "Heather and Yon"

Just received my third custom made Fedora from Timothy Bender. Blue Steel, beaver fur. Offset brim (3" front and back, 2-1/2" on the sides). Crown is 4-5/8" in front wth a nice tight pinch. 5" on the back. Lining is a beautiful scarlet red silk.

Don't know if this specific lid is listed, but here's some grist for your mill, and there have been other threads dedicated to hat weight (Casechopper also started one but I didn't find it).

It's very nice to finally have some specific information on the weight of different hats, instead of the usual meaningless "lightweight", "fairly lightweight", "neither too light nor too heavy", "about average", "don't know", etc..

Thank you. Bender is well known amongst people who do living history programs for being an exceptional maker of mid 19th century, American style hats. In the last two years, he has also been making Fedoras.
