Show us your TIES

I was at a vintage event this weekend in Sydney Australia (where I happened to win best dressed guy, I was rather chuffed with that.) I picked up this box of shop display ties for $45.00 AUD! All with original packaging and I'm 90% sure they haven't been removed from the box in a very long time, as they were all perfectly folded and they just felt like they hadn't been disturbed in a long time. There is 6 ties with 2 of each colour. I think one of each tie was used as a try on version while the other was kept in the box as one of each tie had a lot of creases and the other didn't. Either way they're like a silk of some description blend from the 40s, with wool interlining. I also got a lovely green wool 1940s regimental tie, with a little fringe on the hem.

Awesome find!

A few recent acquisitions, the most interesting of which are the 11 deadstock ties from across the pond in the US. They are all crumpled quite a lot but mostly in good condition, and with most of them still having the original cardboard slips on. :)

The orange one is from the American lot, the other is a British wool tie from a different source. I think it could well be 1930s, and I love the colours.

My first ever 'Palm Beach' tie. Amazing colours, and the tag is great too.

Two Polka-dot 'Arrow' ties. Only one has a card, with the fabric content a wool and rayon mix.

I got five of these 'Palmetto Tropic Spun Weaves' ties. Cotton, and in a nice faun colour. Don't suppose they could have been intended for the military? Three have tags, two don't.

Another 'Palmetto' cravat. No fabric content, but it is quite stiff with a subtle shine.

Not deadstock this one, and in fact I think it has been worn a lot, as you can see, but it is very clean and I think pretty wearable. The highlight is the label - 'Palm Beach'.

That's all for the American ones! Others continued on next post...

...Continued

From another source, same as that earlier wool Brit one, two Tootal ties, in immaculate condition.

And lastly a 'Trias'. A lovely British brand :)

Bonus round!

Two cards with collar pins on. Sorry for the bad scan. 'Bond' St. Pin Gold Plated'. Picked up the both for a fiver!

Thanks for looking!

Fantastic score Eddie!! A great lot. I really like that 'Trias', but my favorite of the lot is the gold/yellow 'Palm Beach' with the bouncing squares. I love it!

Thank you gents! I've got to say my favourite is that purple Palm Beach, with the stripes. The fabric itself feels amazing. But I do really like that yellow one - you can really imagine it being worn by some guy strolling along the sea front in a cotton suit. Or a used car salesman ;)

Dale - Just a shame that the yellow one is so well worn. It isn't really the type of wear I've seen before though - only threads going one way are worn-out.

BobHufford - Luckily the cards all slip on and off quite easily, so I can always replace them after I've worn them :)

Sorry, I forgot to post the label for the yellow Palm Beach:

Any suggestions on pressing them? I'd rather avoid the iron if at all possible really.

Good finds there Eddie, the British blue plaid is a beauty...nice to have the cards for the palm beach ones, I like the Tootals also and I have the exact same Trias tie!
The collar pins are a nice find too, I very been after some of those myself!

Found close to 70 vintage ties out poking around in the antique shops, thrifts and junk shops today. Hopefully I'll be able to get them all photographed and scanned so that I can post them tomorrow.

Good Lord!! I've been scrounging the thrifts around here for over 30 years and still haven't found that many.
