Long story short, I ended up in Cody, WY tonight so I figured I may as well go to the bar. Having a bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and few Blacktooth Brewing Saddle Broncs. Local Wyoming brewery and pretty good beer. Couple of young, slightly intoxicated couples in the back at the pool tables, little loud but just having a good time.

Couple of guys and a girl just came in, it’s pretty obvious that the two gentlemen are together but their lay friend seems to be glancing my way pretty regularly so I do think I’ll put my phone away. Y’all have a good night.

It is as nice as it looks. It's definitely "an evening out" place if you go for the whole shabingo-bango - pre-diner cocktails, dinner, desert (w/ after diner drink) which is a wonderful night... No surprise, they really know how to make a Dark 'N' Stormy.

Last time I took a lady to Le Colonial was a bittersweet dinner-we were "never lovers, always friends" like the song says. C'est la vie.

Your post has kept coming back to me since I read it. I have had a few similar events and, while not fun at the moment, they are part of what makes life alive (as long as your life isn't one long uninterrupted-by-some-good-events string of them).

There's a pretty prominent bar in NYC that changes hands every decade or so, but to me, it will always be the bar where "she" didn't show up for a date (as it was already over for her, but she hadn't bothered to tell me). The bar is on its third name since then - and I pass it almost every week - but the small tinge of sadness it brings up almost feels good now as, after all these years, it's more about life than sadness.

Ahh man. A can of Bumble Bee albacore tuna, a can of Campbell's Cream of Potato, and maybe some sardines, Slam chowder.
On a cold Chicago nite this chowder always hits the spot.
