Stingy straws, they need sunglasses to operate well in the sunshine...

And you’re saying that’s a bad thing?
I could make any number of self-deprecating jokes, but I shall follow Mr. Dicianna's excellent example and show restraint. ;)

...Not all stingies work for me, but some are quite nice. I also think that really tall crowns with a stingy brim look unbalanced...
I agree; the crown height to brim width ratio is important for any hat to look "right". Unfortunately, I need at least 4-1/4" (as creased) of crown height or the hat won't fit properly on my head, and anything more than slight taper makes that problem worse on my relatively square Frankenskull. As such, the stingiest I can go on any brim is about 2" or the hat looks "wrong" to my eye, which narrows my selections down even further. :(

Here's a '60s or '70s Stetson Sovereign velour
DSCN3177 crop by Michael A2012, on Flickr
1 7/8" overwelt brim, 4 1/4" crown in front with a deep center dent, 5" or more on the sides. Original price was $25.

Is the production quality as nice as it looks? The end of the era still had some hats by Stetson that are full featured and well made. I sent a Sovereign to Stefan with these dimensions, just not as furry.

The felt seems pretty nice, but it's a glued liner. I should probably give it a good steam and a brush up.

Thanks,
Michael

Greetings All:
I only have a couple stingys and this is one quite different in about all catagories. It’s a modern 1 7/8” brim, 1 1/2” ribbon with pin, fuzzy hat with an inside i just could not resist.
I call it my “Oye Como Va” hat. Probably not hard to figure why! Interesting the album cover and liner.
Hasta Luego. Bowen
