If you could get only one armoured jacket for riding , which style would you choose?

So I am thinking of getting a vintage style jacket made with full armour and was told that pretty much anything can be made :)

I will go with a single versatile colour so that I can wear it no matter what bike I ride.

So what would you go with? a CR? Cross-zip? Something else like say a roadmaster for example?

Cross zip but it'd have to be a really functional jacket. But yeah, so far, cross zip jackets have been my favorite on a bike and by far. Not the most exciting choice, though...

If I could add armor to any jacket then my choice is a Cal LAPD (just buy an armored shirt?). If I have to purchase an armored jacket already in production, no question a Vanson Force. Oh, I own both you say? Imagine that.

Tough one. I do use handwarmers when present, though. A lot. Still, D pocket looks cool.

Hmm... My Tenjin Works D pocket actually has a handwarmer pocket just behind the d pocket, so could have both

Variety is the spice of life :D

I am currently looking at making a full custom jacket, hence why almost anything is possible. It's the jacket that I want to have ready to go anytime I go on the bike.

@red devil , did you look into Kadoya? Those guys are making serious MC gear and it would appear they're willing to design just about anything!

Was at a their shop near Asakusa last year, they had some really nice stuff, thanks for mentioning them, I definitely need to go check them out again.
I am very happy with the riding chelsea boots I got from them :)

Another vote for an off the shelf armored Vanson Force or an armored Comet. I probably grab the Comet more often though, just an easy to wear no bs bike jacket. And the two inside zip pockets are perfect for keys/wallet.

I guess there is a reason why the modern riding suits, or at least their top part seems to have evolved from the Cafe Racer

If I were looking for something straight off the shelf, I'd probably be looking at GoldTop, https://www.goldtop.co.uk/jackets - most likely the 1959 model.

For a custom order, assuming it were possible, I'd be torn between an Aero J106 and a modified version of the Aero MC to match the Durable repro they made for the Brando statute in Tussauds.

Interesting note-on the site, it mentions they'll no longer be able to sell certain models without armour due to regulation??

It is a custom order, so I am looking for ideas :)
Not planning on having a big selection of armoured jackets, so in a way it is similar to looking for a grail jacket which is completely contrary to my normal approach!

Johnson Leather will make custom armor jackets and riding pants any style made to measurements. The armor Johnson uses makes the armor Vanson uses look like band-aids

My experience getting my first custom (unarmoured) jacket was stellar, I can only say good things about them!

Probably a barnstormer. And go about 15 mph tops.

A longer jacket could be interesting, wonder how it would work on a bike...
I tried the longer belstaff with the pockets

And it looked better than I expected, so also considering longer models at the moment

Speaking of which, I heard that belstaff were bought back and are focusing again on riding jackets. Any body knows if there's any truth to this?

On the goldtop site?
