It was for science, though. I really want to know if they have good felt. I wasn't going to pay $1200, but 375 was alright. At least this one isn't burned or patched, and taking off the match will be easy. I hope it won't turn me into a pyromaniac.

I don't trust circumference for beans, but I also knew at 21" she couldn't be off by that much, so I had no dog in the fight. I figured that hat would be right up your alley when I saw it. Then I ran her numbers and was like, d***, that's small. Something's probably not right.

Yeah! Like when I started buying good vintage felts to compare with my Optimos. I asked if anyone had compared the two, and no one replied, so I bought them and found the best vintage felts really are better.
Now I want to know if he is just a charlatan, or if he is a flamboyant exaggerator with a quality core.

For some reason I fit 6 7/8 to 7 3/8. A 6 7/8 fits me a little tight for about two days, then it fits fine. I think I have a blockhead or something.
The conformulator hat-sizing machine (ok, I made that word up) Ignacio has says I am right below a bumpy 7 1/8 in size and he squares up hats easily for me.
I guess I did sneak up on this one. I thought at first I would get it dirt cheap, but from my non-scientific eye comparing other 1920s, size 6 7/8 Stetsons $150 is a general ceiling and some have even gone for less than $100.
Size is a price killer there...

In the Army I wore a 6 7/8 patrol cap, but we wore those higher than fedoras. A 7 3/8 fits a little loose for a couple of days, then seems to settle on my head. If I wet it down that obviously helps.
