hi all,
don't have this in my hands yet ... pretty sure this borsalino is from the original factory and made for the US market.
what i'm wondering is does this hat have a "model" designation? and will brim hold shape or is it floppy? apparently it's dark blue btw.
thank you!

Very nice looking hat. The most likely colour for this hat is called "mirtillo" (blueberry). There are other blue colours by them, but those are far more rare (like "cobalto" or "pervinca"). If the hat has a model designation it will be either on the sweatband or on a label inside the hat. Can't tell from just the pictures. The brim will hold its shape, but will not be as stiff as some American made hats.

This is a very nice looking hat Guitar.
I like the unusual ribbon treatment and the wide brim.
I’m with @steur on the Mirtillo color. I’m looking at a Pervinca and it appears a little softer and slightly less rich. Imho
Copy the size chart posted, you’ll use it a lot. Punti is the Italian term used for the French Size listing.
Nice hats Sir.

Borsalino faunosca 39 in the colour china. Martora felt. This was the one that I traded with @Dotneck and I'm very grateful to him. Raw edge brim at almost 7cm and crown 11cm at the center dent. It's a beauty. Someone has been tinkering with it in the past though. Liner was taped and not sewn inside, which you just don't see with Borsalino. Maybe it was taken out at some point. The sweatband stitches are fragile and it may come loose from the reed here and there. The sweatband backseam shows a small gap as if someone has tried to stretch it. That doesn't detract anything from the hat though, because it is still magnificent.

Nice trade, Stefan. Despite its internal problems, it sure is one fine Borsalino. I can just see you under it. Looking forward to photos of you wearing it.

The Borsalino "Martora" have a remarkable simplicity and Peluso was their paladin in Naples, great competitor of Balbi, another great seller in the Neapolitan city with another genre of Borsalino models.
Un gran bel cappello!!!

Another one for the brotherhood then.
Borsalino Export Qualität gran lusso in misto gris fer in a size 61. Bound brim at 4,5cm and crown 10,5 cm at the center dent. Cloth ribbon called "Diba" on this one and it is unreeded with the corrugated construction in the front, which is quite unusual for European market hats. The felt is what you'd expect from Borsalino. As @Redfokker always says: embrace the stingy! Lightweight hat by the way at just 94 grams.

Umm, As much as I'd like to take credit for the trade, but it wasn't me that you traded hats with. . But it was still a good trade.

My first Borsalino. It seems a lot like my Dobbs Cross Country in terms of the felt quality and overall lightness. Any info this model/style hat would be appreciated.

Is Luzzi the Hat shop?

What does this tag signify?

Congrats on your first Borsalino and welcome to the Brotherhood!

Regarding some of your questions, yes, Luzzi is the retailer. "Castagna" in the lower left of the tag is the felt color. The dash in the middle signifies the ribbon is the same color. "Celesca" in the lower right is the model name of the hat. The "6" is Punti sizing, equivalent to a 7-3/8 (59). Borsalino hats are notoriously difficult to date but I think the vertical script on the far left of the tag was used no later than the early 50s. Given the Roman shop and Punti sizing I would assume this was an Italian market hat.

Here is the only other example of a Celesca that I was able to find on TFL, sported by @mayserwegener.

Fellow European members @Daniele Tanto and/or @steur are probably the most knowledgeable on Borsalino's, so they could probably tell you some more.
