From the view of german market, jeans are one of the typical, permanent reminder, that the era of classic brand is looong over. Storebrand does the job for half the price. 40/50 bucks against 90/100 bucks (50 for Denim, 50 for name).
After the jeans-crisis in the late 90s, classic brand jeans never went back to the old 90s quality.

I somehow think the same with jacket, the higher the armpit the better the arm movement, the higher the crotch seam/the closer you wear your pants crotch to your own, the less likely it will tear there from pulling,the same with knee, the tighter the knee fit is better than half tight because since the pants is tight on the knee, the first time you sit when you wear your shoes it will ride up and bunching there for the rest of the day so next time you sit or squat it doesn't pull and strain the fabrics again. while semi tight fit/ slim fit will drop straight every time and every time again it will try to find room to accommodate your sudden movement thus get higher chance of tearing, so in my opinion unless youre going with relax straight leg the little extra wiggle room on the leg might require you to pull the pants up before sitting or doing big movements or might break the pants on the ass and knee in the long run.
Fit is king. Pants, jackets, hats, everything. All else is a pleasant luxury.

I totally ruined a selvedge canvas pair of pants by Freenote cloth. I didn't realize that they were made to fade like selvedge denim, so I popped it into the wash. The spin cycle caused the canvas to streak. So bummed. Now I just wear them for yard work.
