I had a 27oz type III from them. It is as insane. Felt like a fire hose. Hopefully I can report back soon. I ordered it almost two weeks ago and that was the time frame they gave for completion.

I saw this post on IG with a picture of the sheath and it cracked me up. Case XX has been selling that pancake-style sheath for ever, it's an incredibly common style. I believe the sheath was made for a collab with Filson but Filson went with the same style sheath made by someone else. The Ship John shop seems to use high quality methods and materials so I don't know why all the huff about designs and supposed imitation is necessary.

Overall Very positive 1st impressions
a bit more chore coat than type III,
Nicely constructed. I like the leather backed buttons.. no one will ever notice them but they’re cool
I’ll soak it at some point to give the denim a little life and see if the length tightens up.

That looks fantastic! Mine arrives Saturday barring any postal snafu. Length does look a bit longer? What’s yours measure in back? Same as stated on the site? I ordered a large, supposed to be 25.5” in back...

According to the size chart the XXL should be 27", this one measures a hair longer than 28"..I think it'll tighten up once it gets wet.
I actually don't think ill mind the added length, with all the pockets on the front a little extra length doesn't appear that out of whack

I agree, the front config is more like a chore or work jacket anyway. Looks great man. Nice color too!

Holy ship! It arrived early. I like it OK but just like Boyo’s mine is longer than the size chart indicated. A full 2” in fact. Stated size large was supposed to have a 25.5” back, mine measures in at 27.5”. It’s not a type III any means, it’s a chore coat. Not what I was expecting but it’s decent. Not very much shape to it. Cool details. Cool denim. Construction is immaculate. I’d like it more if it were blanket lined. Seems an oddball idea to have an unlined chore coat.
Fit looks good per usual tony! kinda odd the sizing being off so much. Not sure how i feel about the design
IMHO were it the stated back length it would make a bit more sense or maybe ditch the waist tabs and just let it be what it is. Chore coat. I like the pocket config but I’m not crazy about the length. It seems all SJ jackets are longer...but this is a full 2” longer than the size chart specs.

I soaked mine today.. visibly it looks smaller, I haven't tried it on again yet, I'll re-measure when its dry ( it turned the water pretty blue)
if you decide to keep it, maybe a soak will bring the number in-line.

I’m going to keep it. It’s too nice in its detail to sell. I’ll wear it this fall and into winter as much as I can and then give it a bath. It’s a great jacket. I just hoped it would be significantly shorter.

If you think you would like it better lined - send it to Dena and ask her to install a nice flannel/wool liner. I think that would make it a lot more versitle, and looks like you have a bit of room in it for this. You would really have a one-off with that...

A mostly dry jacket.. still wet at waist and cuffs. Areas under strain are likely to stretch back out ( chest & shoulders) sleeves and length won’t
I hung it out to dry maybe more shrinkage to be had in clothes dryer

Uh oh. Time for me to throw on the trunks get in the tub and set this ship to sail. Looks better post soak. I may chuck mine in the dryer when it’s half dry. Worry I may bugger up the shoulders though...
