Brand new blackened brown Aero Premier Highwayman delivered yesterday. Loving it.

Yes! This is so clean looking and fits you very well. You can wear that thing anywhere and it will look right in place!

Rough’n’ready x Hooch hauler crossbreed in jerky HH. Fits to my taste everywhere but the waist where I wish it was a bit wider... it’s one of those measurements I’ve always failed to take into account but learnt my lesson. Will probably end up selling it at some point.

Sweeet! So rough and ready front and hooch hauler back? That's so smart looking! Looks great on you, hope the leather stretch out more.

Man do I love this jacket. I’ve paid a lot more and been a lot less happy. If Shawn can continue to expand his available leather selection...I’ll have quite a few of these.

Brown cow today over new big turtleneck i have ordered a street tailor to make from cotton pique i bought by the kilo, got 2 long sleeve with long neck i can pull over my face when in need of instant covid mask from 1 kilo of materials. All the edges left raw and will curl after washing, totally smooth in the inside no tag, no itchy edge finisher, nice to wear allday.... i pay apprx $15 for the fabrics and $12 to the tailor to make me 2 custom turtlenecks. Im quite happy

Finally have been able to wear leather jackets lately.
I think this is the only jacket I have ever owned that looks better zipped up than unzipped.

I agree. The lapels seem to create an odd sag in the chest and the jacket looses its shape a bit. Somewhat true of most cross zips imho but the extreme width on these lapels mandates the jacket be worn closed. I think the only way cross zips look good open is when they are actually a size too small across the chest. You otherwise end up with an open peacoat effect. That’s a big reason why I personally have moved away from crosszips. Well... For now anyway.

I am the definition of poseur in the "What Jacket Are You Wearing In Your Living Room Today?" thread.
Pretty sure this Bates was raced as besides how filthy it was when it arrived, it's arm length is 27.5" in a straight line (a 40LL). It still needs a new main zip and could use a liner I guess.
A few before and after's below .. last two pics not doctored one bit: jacket really came up that white ; )

Los Angeles finally has jacket weather. Only took to about November for it to happen LOL. I can finally wear a jacket outside and not just inside with my boxer shorts. Let the breaking in begin.

Schott 118. Think this is my bury me in it jacket. Although I got a couple things in queue that are going to give it a good run.

Same for me & my 613! Man, I wish any of my Perfectos had that belt snap. It's kind of annoying as it's hitting the sleeve when I walk.

I know. Totally. Only reason why I went for 118 (well that and I really like the 100 series Schott leather). I guess you could add a snap, no? Ask Schott, they may even send you the proper hardware.

Will do that, actually! But yeah, 100 series uses the nicest hide, as far as I am concerned. Schott naked cow is without equal.

Please I have to see it completely zipped up with that collar! Looks amazing by the way, and those engineers are drool worthy.

I'll have to do that sometime, but I don't think it will look good.

Yeah the peacoat look is definitely an issue here and as you said, these lapels make it even worse. That said, it looks so good zipped up that I don't mind too much. For the most part, I also agree that the only way cross zips look good unzipped is if they don't actually fit zipped up. Fortunately for me, my Sunset is an exception. I think that is because of the soft deerskin leather, letting the jacket to sort of fold a bit at the pits so it can be more open when unzipped.

Yep the smaller lapels are key. My natal and a couple others that were too small had the same effect. I’ve always felt it’s a choice of sorts with cross zips. It looks good one or the other but seldom both. These were all a bit too snug to wear zipped but looked the part open:

Yeah you're proving it right there @ton312 - those tighter fitting cross zips look good unzipped for sure. It's not like my San Mateo even fits very loose. It's fairly snug too, but it would have to be basically impossible to zip up in order to look good unzipped.
