Thank you, I’m super fond of it already!

I’ve seen the ribbon change! Your wife does great work! Your CD’s look exceptional! It’s what gave me the inspiration to give it a whirl. Congratulations on the Anniversary! Cheers to the two of you!

Many thanks for the kind remarks and Cheers, I'll pass them onto the Wife as well.

Nice Brent! I've tried the Light Sand version of that hat on many times at the DM store, but it doesn't suit me somehow. The Dark Fawn looks great on you!
I got the Dark Fawn, don't know how they came up with that name for the color, looks more like a light black bear to me, but I liked it so well that I ordered a light sand. I think that style brim, maybe a little wider, with a telescope brim would look good, more a true southern planter style.

Just as some of us were talking about the thickness of imperial Vs heritage, here's a snap of 2 silverbelly Campdrafts and you can see the differences between the two felts in the same colour/hat. If you look at my heritage model it's certainly still fluffy/fuzzy.

This thread is living upto it's name lol, here's some more Akubra overload for your eyes.

Here's a pair of twins, but their obviously not identical lol. Just shows how different the same model and colour of hat can look like a almost completely different hat depending upon the way you simply style 'n bash it or by adding a different ribbon. Wish I had an original SBCD with it's ribbon in the pic with them just because it'd look cool.

Couldn't do it with these as I have removed the original ribbons (gives a cleaner look, you can leave the old ribbon under the new but you can see the old ribbon is still there showing through when doing this)

The both look nice, but that green ribbon is speaking to me.

Think I have almost a whole role of it still lol, I never liked it at first so never used it. I blame my wife as it was all her doing that time, even colour pick. Now I love it, less flashy than the super contrasts of the other lid's ribbon.

I'm normally much more cautious and I can't really say why but always steered clear of Greens alot till fairly recently in my life.

Edit: What I would also like is to have matched something up with the original ribbon/brim trim colour. That was my original intention to do with it.

Interesting. I have three Fed IVs; two Imperial felt and one Heritage felt. Except for the different colors, different liners, and the Heritage felt feeling more substantial, there's no noticeable difference between them.

It looks like it's hardly been pounced at all to me, I've got less than ideal eye sight and I can see straight hairs sticking out all over without my glasses on. I'm a big fan of Akubra and while it's not really about quality I still put finish in that realm, maybe it's just Campdrafts and their felt style, none of my other Akubra's are fuzzy like this but most are older. Though I have a Hampton, a new bluegrass green Campdraft and 2 Fed IV's and they all look better finished.

Guess it's just different batches and the nature of handmade/finished products/different people etc.... But seems someone could have spent just a couple minutes more on finishing it better is all IMHO.

Modern manufacturing and old world expectations I guess are to blame.

Here’s an Imperial grade Campdraft that I bought a couple of years ago. It had the longest nap to the felt of any Akubra I’ve seen. It was a borderline longhair finish. I actually didn’t mind it but I often wondered about the finish.

I sold this hat off a month or two ago as part of my goal to get down to 50 felt hats. It was fine, but not exceptional and just didn’t make the cut.

Love your hats Silver! Great job on the ribbons. Wish I could do something like that. Are the wolf pins a business mascot? Awaiting a heritage SB as well, hopefully will come in today.

Have this Bushman in Moonstone that I received. Have been wearing it around in the house to break in the leather sweatband (let it shrink with my body heat). Have not shaped the brim yet. Wondering what is a good shape? I dont want ghost creases, so want to shape to whatever it's final crown will be. Because I am a small person and the brim on this is a bit large for me, not sure if the fedora bash is best. Thinking either leaving it open crown (yeah, like the old west styles) open road, or maybe even gus. Anyone with a bushman find better shapes for this bigger brim?

Just purchased an Akubra Federation IV in Tawny Fawn from HatsDirect in a size 59. Apparently my head has shrunk considerably from a 61 in the last 6 months. It only dawned on me one day when I wondered why all my hats fit loose...
Did you lose weight? I made a hat for my boss...he then lost 20lbs and he dropped one full hat size....7 1/4 down to 7 1/8th

Howdy,
Many thanks for the kind remarks on my lids 'n ribbons though credit goes to my lovely Wife who did the ribbons for me. That green ribbon was her first solo go, she's only done a few so far and all have been really good. I've not done many myself in the past but she rocks em in.
Nothing stopping you from having a go, just one thing folks miss sometimes and wonder why they can't get a ribbon fitting/looking quite right and the trick is (well it's no trick lol) to swirl the ribbon until it's contours match that of the hats crown and any taper it has.

As to the SilverWolf pins and my name, my nick name is Wolf and that's how most know me as... The silver bit came in at a later point and well now I'm more white lol, the pins are just a me thing from my nick-name. Nothing to do with business etc, been retired for over 2 decades now. Even my license plates had Wolf, just my quirk really. Grats on the new SBCD, it's a great light versatile colour, I think I like my imperial better than my heritage with the exception of the sweat band on the heritage..that's nice so very soft.

Could be it, I lost 70kg and went down 3 'n a bit sizes in hats. Even went down in shoe size too o_O

It was expensive losing that much weight lol, went from size 4xl/5xl pants and shirts down to small/medium sizes 31-32 size waist. Had to replace all my clothes, I could still stand to lose 5-6kg more but at that weight I looked good but kept getting crook, I'm not super skinny now but happy enough.

Well, the ladies at The Hattery have done it again. When I heard about the Campdraft Deluxe discontinuation, I emailed The Hattery and inquired if there were any available in my size. (Yes, I already have one of each color, but I want to give #2 a different bash.) They replied immediately as usual, but for some reason I didn't receive their email. I thought the silence was odd considering Trudi and Naomi's usual gold-star service, but I noticed that The Hattery site was showing none available in my size, so I shrugged-off the service anomaly and kissed the thought of more CDDs goodbye.

This morning I received an invoice from The Hattery via email to accept/pay. It was an order for 1 Moonstone and 1 Cedar Brown Campdraft Deluxe in my size... with free shipping. I also received an email which continued the thread I started with my original query back in October, so I got to see their "missing" reply from October 12. In that communication they said they were holding a Cedar Brown for me, and were hoping to receive some back-ordered Moonstone in November, the arrival of which they would notify me.

Needless to say, I paid the invoice. I also sent the ladies a reply explaining the situation and my subsequent joy. Trudi and Naomi provide heart-warming care and classy personal touches to their sales regimen, and THAT goes a very long way in my book.

Great hats, but it’s the customer service that impresses me the most. Treatment like that makes for for lifelong customers.
