Rebel Mens Wear and Accessories?

Anyone know anything about this Japanese company/store? Not sure I could actually wear anything with the brand-name “rebel,” but I just came across them on Instagram and they’ve got some pretty cool jackets and boots. They don’t have a separate website as far as I can tell, but they have an Instagram account and a Facebook page (search in the name to see them). Looks like they sell some preowned namebrand stuff, but mostly their own brand.

Anyway, just curious more than anything. I will include here pictures of the jacket that first cut my eye.

They aren’t a japanese maker as far as I know. They re-sell Chinese made jackets and curated used items. They are well edited, but certain members have found the items for less on Chinese sites like Taobao.

As above, so I don't think you have to worry about their own branding on anything. Their was a bit of chat about them in the 'photos of cool jackets' thread about a month ago. Jacket you've pictured, which I guess is a copy of a Thedi, looks like it shows up from a few sellers on aliexpress like this or this.

I’ll third the notion. Reseller of some various quality levels of jackets. Def - pro at insta pics. But the jacket are often way over priced Chinese knock-offs

I spoke to them in an email exchange. They are a curated shop that re-sells high end Japanese and Chinese jackets. They also have some they either make themselves or pay to have their label on them. As far as those ones go no idea on their quality. They sure look good on their social media but that’s easy to make stuff look good. Never saw any of their labeled things in person. They seem friendly enough and answered my question or two when I emailed them.

Appreciate the feedback. I did DM them on that jacket, asking price and who the maker was. They responded quickly -- price was 400-something USD. And they said it "was made locally."

The one I asked about they told me it was made here by us. No further explanation. I don’t necessarily think they are hiding anything or being coy I think it’s a language and cultural difference. The 2-3 emails I exchanged with them were brief and not well worded.

Looking more at their stuff, the thing I would be most tempted by are these boots. The description says they are made with Horween waxed flesh, but it's been lacquered down more than any waxed flesh I've seen -- which looks good to me. Also, a nice toe box shape. And the outsoles are clearly Dr Soles, so quality material (in the pics at least).

I don’t even like boots. But I do like those.

Yeah, it seems like there are several high end bootmakers in China these days, Flame Panda being one of them. Sold out months in advance. I would not be surprised if others wanted to get in on the biz.

I bought a white Sashiko shirt from them. Quite nice quality. It took at least 4 weeks for delivery from China. They were quick to respond to emails and sent a tracking link. They sent me complete measurement specs and I ended up taking an XXL in their shirt - and I'm a size 40 chest. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again if I saw something I liked.

They replied they don't have the leather for the model they featured on July 17th.

They did not offer any other leathers and I did not ask.

China is a logical place for high end production. Cheaper labour, as a rule, than Japan, but still plenty of craftsmanship. It gets a bad rep for the labour camps and low quality, which is understandable and there certainly are all sorts of ethical considerations involved - not least the environmental impact of buying globally (which also comes into play for many of us in Europe when looking at US product as well, of course). I did have a pair of shoes made by a craftsman in Beijing about a decade ago, and they were one of only two pairs in my entire lifetime (I suspect I've owned maybe two hundred or so pairs of shoes in my life, being forty-six now) that required no break-in. Beautiful shoes. Given the right quality of materials and a market willing to pay for them (which is the clincher: the "China makes cheap crap" maxim is something of a self-fulfilling prophecy if that's all people are prepared to buy/ order/ pay for from China), there's absolutely no reason a Chinese company couldn't make an outstanding pair of boots.

That's the other challenge with these Chinese brands, is the sizing. I know there's a lot of Bronson stuff I'd be keen to try, but I seem always to be just on the edge of their sizing availability for jackets and tops - and I'll never be a 36" waist again, which seems to be their maximum. Be interesting to see what they could achieve if they were working with a Western marketing team who would know the market and could steer them on sizing and such.

You may use them as buying/proxy service of Taobao since Taobao is not accessible to most here. The items they sell can be found on Taobao and their stock is limited to only what is available now on Taobao.

Yes they are resellers of Taobao/Xianyu, which is the Chinese second-hand platform. The pair of Role Club Underdogs listed on Reb_bel instagram account is owned and currently selling on Xianyu by my friend. And my friend has no clue that his pair of boots is listed for resale on Instagram.
