Good catch! I didn’t know there were both 875s and 1075s. Either did the clerk at the red wing store apparently. I took the 10875 back and got the 875. The leather is a little thinner and will be easier to break in.
Yeah i like both i saw the dark hardware and red wing logo. Color i think is very similar right?

Next up is my Onderhoud Handmade LCV01 in black Maryam veg tan horsebutt

I first got these boots right around when the first lockdown hit so thanks to COVID I have not worn them anywhere near as much as I would want, but it is not because I don’t want to. These are great boots. I’m not a fan of all of the Onderhoud designs, but I do love these. They are chunky, but not overly so and are well balanced with a nicely curved woodsman heel. The leather is black Maryam vegetable tanned horsebutt and it is pretty solid. Not my favorite horsehide, but it does have some visible grain. The construction is excellent and definitely punches above its price point. With more time, these boots could end up being higher, but this is where they are right now (6th place).

Carl Murawski interview with Gabbard the man behind Kreosote Boots...Formerly known as MYG Handmade. Probably...actually without a doubt the best boot maker operating in North America. I believe our buddy @dudewuttheheck knows him. Not sure on what level or how close but I do believe they’ve interacted a bit. His boots are crazy expensive, no two ways about that. Start at 1,000 and go up. But he literally does everything that can be done by hand; by hand. Uses old school techniques and equipment; and makes some of the meanest, angriest boots on the market using only the best materials on the market. So worth it? Eye of the beholder. The best boot maker in the world? I think dude would argue White Kloud haha. But certainly as I said he’s the best in NA and considered one of the best of the world. About to sit down for 50mins and give this a watch myself.

Yeah Gabbard makes awesome boots. I'm still thinking about getting a pair. He's an awesome dude and I talk with him on Instagram often. He is definitely someone who deserves more attention than he gets. I would absolutely put White Kloud as number 1 with a very clear lead above everyone else. However, keep in mind that his boots are a lot more expensive and more difficult to get than Kreosote boots. In terms of boots that you can order without an in person meeting, Kreosote boots have to be in the conversation. The fact that even his stitching "machines" are hand cranked is pretty cool and sets him apart. I think the unique designs are why he isn't talked about more. They are quite unique and don't fit in with our more repro-vintage oriented stuff that is more popular now. I'm not saying they aren't well done, just that they are not going to appeal to everyone.

Funny that you post this- Gabbard and I actually just had a conversation about this interview before it was published.

@Jin431 thanks man I really appreciate that! If you want something that is dyed black all the way through, then I think black Badalassi is gorgeous. My brother has that on his White Kloud boots and it looks incredible. The black veg tanned Japanese cowhide on one of my custom pairs of Clinch boots looks great and takes a shine really nicely, but I am not sure if that is an option from them anymore. I think that the black vegetable tanned teacore horsehide from Attractions is absolutely gorgeous. Motor's next drop of their dress engineers has a hand dyed black horsehide that also looks wonderful. Black Shinki is of course great if you can get your hands on a pair of boots with it as well. Of course, the black tea core horsehide that Clinch uses now is nice too, but that one is more like a grey that immediately turns brown rather than actually being black IMO.

Thanks man. I'll most likely go for black badalassi since I already know that I'll like it and its dyed all the way through. I tried the black teacore shinki and that's great but maybe I would have loved it more if it was full aniline or if it was horse butt. As much as I like the clinch boots, it's a lot too much for me to justify lol I looked back on your attraction's boots and they look so fine! I like Motor's dress engineers because of how it looks and it's better affordability but I'll most likely get them in brown overdye. When does Motor drop their next line? And how is sizing with them?

Very nice. I love their snuff suede. I just love suede in general. I used to be afraid of suede (cue the classic Seinfeld episode) but I've since come to experience suede is incredibly durable, low maintenance, and looks incredible with some wear.

Same here, I was reluctant to spend any money on suede until last year I got me a pair of C&J chukkas in snuff suede. I prefer the Alden suede though, colour variation is wider than the C&J.

Order the teacore Shinki from Benzein - so we can get a full review! :)

Motor's next drop is very soon. If you are interested I would suggest messaging them on Instagram immediately. I sized down one full size from my brannock in my Motor boots.

It's great stuff, grainy and smooth but I wished it was heftier. I just prefer the horse butt better.

I believe he has those already. Some Chelsea’s that he needs to sell to me haha

awww man. I traded the black teacore to @JCSD for the mr freedom jacket
