Invoice paid this AM. REALLY looking forward to this one. There’s a lot riding on it. If Shawn can deliver in a heavy hide I will unleash a barrage of patterns I’ve accumulated in the photo roll.

Nice. I had an email back from Shawn today as well. He described the leather as

"Regarding the measurements, for a 45 Inches Chest I think there must be 6 to 7 inches Extra space in the Chest to fit better as this is 1.7mm thick Leather".
This is the Cream colored leather that isn" CXL".

6 to 7 inches is a lot of extra room if the jacket has a standard thickness lining such as cotton drill. It seems to me that that much excess leather will bunch up and fold in an unsightly manner.

yeah, what it needs it a close fit, curved & rotated sleeve and high armhole, force it to wrinkle into smaller creases instead of a single big deep crease it tends to with thicker hide. going baggy would only look unsightly since the leather will never crease enough to look natural when given too much room. with thick leather in a roomy fit it will only learn to make 1 very prominent fold and the leather around it sticking out unnaturally as it never soften and breaks in.

Could you enlighten me what is rotated sleeve?

Could you enlighten me what is rotated sleeve?

the sleeve post around the shoulder rotated forward a little rather than just hanging down vertically, so the upper arm and shoulder don't get too much creases when you bring your arms forward like in driving position, while curved sleeve mostly affect inner elbow and lower arm, when the sleeve is curved as you bend the elbow there is less material trapped on the inside of your elbow ( less honeycomb creases) and so not stopping your blood flow even with slimmer sleeve.

the tradeoff are in normal position with your arm down there is bigger chance the back of the collar hitting the back of your neck and then make a crease just bellow the back collar if the collar is not modified, also there is baggy elbow room when viewed from behind as well as a little baggy rear shoulder on the back of the upper arm is the sleeve is rotated forward too aggressively.

Jesus, can they skive that down to something for a person not wanting 5 minutes of slide abrasion protection?
Tbh, 5/6 oz hides kinda scares me. I was expecting 4/5 oz max. I mean wearing 5/6 oz hide jacket would mean that I am wearing two 2/3 oz jackets at the same time! I will give it a try this weekend, wearing two medium weight jackets, to prepare myself for what’s to come. But from the QC photos I got the natural hide isn’t as thick as the dark brown ones.
